Welcome, good morning, everybody. Appreciate you guys all being here. My name is Ultimate DJs. This is Talking in Cars with DJs, the special Arc Fall edition for M91, the USS Athena, and uh Starfleet Academy Part 2. I uh am on the stage this morning with our friends, our family, and our smart people. That would be executive producer Tarperoni. Uh, we also have Everywhere It Matters and Mad Scientist Jules. With us this morning to talk a little bit about the Athena, its loop, what it's going to provide, and mathematical objective analysis on whether or not this loop is going to have viability for most players. What is contained within the patch notes? We shall find out here this morning on this Talking in Cars with DJs, a subset of the Talking Trek Podcast.
Thank you guys so very much for being here. Good morning to you all. Tarpy, hello, good morning. Have you had your coffee yet? No, I literally haven't moved. She sounds so happy. On the other end of the happiness scale, we have mad scientist Jules Verd. Good morning, Jules. Have you had your cookies yet? Yes, I've had two cups of cookies. Fantastic. Jules Academy Part 2. The USS Athena is here. And as a lot of players have um become accustomed to, there is the thought setting or the precedent setting thought that is permeating the community right now of create a problem, sell a solution. Tell us about the USS Athena and whether or not they're starting to break.
What is the USS Athena and why might players want to chase it?
kind of predictable move with these uh academy trading hostels.
Well, I mean uh I would say it's definitely It's still fitting it within the mold uh of the Excelsior and the Forg sphere, not only in its reach into G7 and its tier locks into G7, but also in its how it's adding to the loop itself. So both of those previous special ships and this one didn't really have a massive effect on the original loop, uh, but have a secondary loop now added to that. In this case it is Fenari Roll. This hostile will appear in your system map. You know how there was always two systems for every single Academy drone level. Now one of those systems is converted to being a Venari Roll. It should have a red skull and as a reminder, token space just gets you into that area. You're freely available to move around.
So if you accidentally send your ship to a Venari Rawl system, it's pretty easy to detect that and then move over to the Academy Troil system if that's what you're intending to hit. The ship itself is actually quite uh capable against its own hostiles. It does not have the same issues um as we had with our regular warships against Academy drones. And I do want to say this was kind of buried in the patch notes, even I missed it. Thank you, Burton, for catching it. They did debuff the original Academy Drone Hostiles. by up to seventy percent of their full health and shield health. uh at certain levels this is made to make the entry point for players particularly in g six easier so that they can start to engage.
The Vinari Rawl is completely different. It is only really attackable by the Athena. You're not really gonna grind these out, nor is there really a purpose for it because the hostile loop they drop is only for the Athena bundles that will appear after unlocking the ship. And those will get you the parts, the research particles, and then some other bonuses to existing refineries.
So if we're taking a look at the M ninety hostels, uh that Burton mentions in the patch notes, uh and this is something that we've kinda uh alluded to over the last uh couple of weeks, Jules, is that they have in fact Separated these two arcs, which both feel somewhat disjointed but also necessary uh here in M91. That they have gone back to M90 and changed the balancing of these hostels. What does this mean for players who had to hit hundreds or thousands for a single refund or found themselves in a position like early G6, literally could not refine a building refined? at all. If they felt like they were completely locked out of M ninety. What exactly does this buff do for them and do they now have an access point?
