He is a Millwall legend, played 256 games for the club, scored 71 goals, came from relatively nowhere and then become massive within the football scene.

I love it. So, first question is, obviously, you were at Bishop Briggs Boys Club up in Scotland, and then obviously you had a trial with Rangers, and then obviously you're at Falkirk. You come from Falkirk for about underground. What made you come to Millwall?
Well, listen, to kind of factually correct this, I actually was an apprentice at Rangers.

Okay, yeah, I missed that bit out. No, no, and the reason why I say it, mate, is because it's important because it's a factor and it was a kind of defining moment for me as a... As a young guy, really. Graeme Souness came into Rangers, and after three months, he let us go. And I was absolutely devastated. And I've often said this, I don't mind. I was actually going to give up football at that stage. I'd just turned 17. I'd been bootied out of the club I love. I know this is a Millwall podcast, and these guys are staunch Millwall. But... I think it's important to recognise the impact it has on young guys when they get bootied out of the club for the first time, particularly the club that you have all your aspirations to play for.
So what happened was there was a geezer phoning me right out of the blue after I got let go from Rangers. And he said to me, would you like to come and play for Bishop Briggs? And so my ego at that time's going, Rangers? To an amateur mob? I went, nah, it's not for me, mate. Fuck's sake, that's a hell of a fucking... That's a fall from grace, you know what I mean? So I said, no, I'm not entertaining that. And the guy talked me around and it was a defining moment because three months after I went to play for Bishop Briggs, I get signed up and get another opportunity to get back into football because genuinely my heart was fucking broken because... I'd been rejected. And I understand why kids get lost in the game now.
So it was. And by the way, Falkirk was fucking, that was mental. What an unbelievable apprenticeship. I went there as a 17-year-old boy, and I ended up playing 100 games with guys that would volley all over the pitch. You've mentioned guys that played two, three, 400 games. And I've just got this young cheeky fucker from the east end of Glasgow, and they bootied the shit out of you.
