How will AI reshape human connection in short‑term rentals for 2026?
Well everybody, I'm back and I'm with the wonderful Miles from Hospitable. How you going?
Pretty good, thank you very much. Good job. Good job so far. Very good so far. Thank you.
Um, Miles is a wonderful person at Hospitable who knows all things marketing, all things technology. And I want your top take for twenty twenty six. What is it that people should be looking out for?
Uh great question. And so I think a lot of people are probably going to say AI to you. I think AI is super important, but I think we still got to keep that human to human connection. So I think that it's making sure that AI has personality. But I think for us as a provider, we're definitely trying to build community still and have that host to host connection. And I think that also other vacation rental managers and hosts should be building that connection with their local communities and staying strong as a hosting community as well.
Uh couldn't agree more. So it's all about being authentic, being genuine, because the bots are talking to each other right now. And I think that it's all good relying on AI or using AI, but not to over rely on it, right?
Yeah, exactly that. Um I think AI can do powerful things, but at the end of the day, there's some core principles that hosts need to keep strong and true and look after their guests.
Yeah, so review the way that you communicate with your key stakeholders, being your guests, uh, being your owners. Uh really critical. Thank you so much. Thank you. Okay, everybody, we're here with the wonderful Heather Bayer. How's it going?
It's going really good. Do I have to shout like that?
You don't have to shout, but you can uh seem very enthusiastic like me and uh and over exaggerate your words. Heather, we had a presentation this morning which I think went uh uh reasonably okay. Um I'm asking everyone what their thoughts. It was marvelous.
It was really darn good. I think it was
it was actually quite incredible, wasn't it?
Yeah, we had some really good feedback. Really, really
We're gonna we're gonna win all the awards, right?
Well it would be nice if yes. It would have been lovely in that room that seated two thousand people to have had Two thousand people.
That's that's right.
Which we didn't, but you know, it was not too bad. That's okay. It was not too bad.
Now look uh Heather, I'm wandering around, I'm talking to everyone, I'm asking them what they should think people should look out for in twenty twenty six. What do you reckon uh people should be thinking about for twenty twenty six as their priority? What's what's changing in the industry?
What do you think? What do you think I'm gonna answer? Come on, well I'm gonna answer AI, AI, AI. Um, but I think what's changing in twenty twenty six is that companies are gonna come to the realisation that this is here, it's it's not going away, and that they need to get to grips with it, they need to Make sure their companies are implementing it in the right way. They're not just cherry-picking all these different apps and different products because they've got AI embedded into them. They're going to I think the the savvy companies are going to become much more Pragmatic and focused on what they choose.
Beautiful. Uh couldn't agree more, of course. Uh I think AI is uh one of the the linchpins of a successful business moving forward. Um Heather, um it was such a pri privilege and such an honor to be able to present with you, be on stage with you. Uh you're uh a wonderful, spirited person and so knowledgeable. Um thank you so much for sharing your insights this year.
You're very welcome and thank you very much for sharing the stage with me. It was such a pleasure.
Thank you very much.
G'day everybody. How's it going? Hey, doing great Bart, man. Great to be in Vegas and good to see you again. I can't believe we're in Vegas again. How fun. Dude, what was it? I feel like it was five years ago, but it was only two, I think. It was three. Three years ago. It feels like five or six. Yep. My probably ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth, something like that. Oh my God.
