Where are you joining us from and how are you?
I'm calling in from Austin, Texas, and I'm doing great. Staying busy, staying out of trouble. So very uh I I can couldn't ask for better.
Good, good, good. Uh Austin, Texas. Tell me about it. Why Austin? Have you always been there?
I have not always been here. I actually landed to Austin about eleven years ago after a quick visit. 'Cause I'm I'm originally from Canada and then after I left Canada I moved to Chicago, spent ten ten years in Chicago, got so tired of the cold, and then one year My ex-boss invited me to come visit her in Austin when we were visiting family in Dallas. And my husband and I found ourselves standing on Sixth Street, which is like a downtown street. We were wearing shorts and a t shirt on December twenty sixth.
Yeah.
And my husband and I looked at each other and we said, Why do we live in Chicago?
Why we're going to be able to do that.
That was a moment that we decided that we're gonna leave and we're gonna find work in Austin and I think it was about eighteen months later I got a job offer at Apple and we just packed up everything and left.
Yeah, amazing. Sometimes you just need that vision, right? And then everything else follows. That's why people put together th those vision boards, right?

Yeah, absolutely. Uh so then um uh and then how do you how do you go during the the summer in in Austin?
Uh I'm very lucky. I don't mind the heat at all. And we also have a small little lake cabin that we spend a lot of time at. So if I'm not in the air conditioning at my house, I'm cooling off at the lake or s wake surfing behind a boat to cool off.
Wow, you do wake surfing? Yeah. No way. Oh man. I'm I'm coming for a visit.
Yeah, please do. That'd be fun. Shh.
Cool life. And uh it's kind of interesting. I I uh I'm in Melbourne. So Melbourne's on the the south uh side of Australia, so it'll be kind of your Chicago pretty pretty miserable when it's cold. Nice during the the summertime, uh, but but when it's when it's cold it's cold. And then you can move up to to the um f uh north of Australia, so closer to the equator, and then it gets a lot warmer, which is great during the winter, but during the summer it can be suffocating 'cause of the humidity and the heat and that sort of thing. But uh anyways, let's not digress too far. Your story is incredible, so I want to spend a bit of time um uh learning about you and um I do know that you were in um I I don't know if it was logistics for for Apple, um trying to get iPhones out to uh two people.
Um I think that there's I mean the the great thing with the Apple brand is that it's not easy to get a job for a company like Apple and you have to be quite smart and quiet on top of things. And then also uh what Apple is a achieved um is quite incredible. So you have to have a a strong team around you to do that. How long were you how long were you with them? And what's important to me is how important was that time with them to set you up with a future of being an entrepreneur and working in short-term, midterm rentals and in property?
Whoa, that's a lot. Let's uh let's start with um You are correct. I worked at I at Apple for almost seven years. I was in a multitude of positions there. I designed global inventory systems for quality control prob problematic items for it I did that for about eighteen months. that I was in inbound logistics basically responsible for getting iPhones onto cargo planes during the launch period, which is part of the reason why I'm bald. You know, if you own an iPhone twelve, that's you you are forever ingrained in my in my history. Um And then when it comes to the how my career led into what I do now. When I started at Apple, I was actually just finishing my master's degree in supply chain and operations.
And even though I'd spent a career in supply chain and operations prior to that,
