Cliona Ní Ríordáin is Professor at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris, and has written about an exceptional wave of poets writing in the English language, in UCC between 1970 and 1980. With so much attention on the Northern Poets, and those writing as Gaeilge, this group of writers were described as "gardening in the rain" and this book sets out to look at the factors which set the scene for this group's work to come to fruition.
