“Today’s episode argues that mainstream LGB organisations have betrayed the trans and queer communities by prioritising assimilation into heteronormative systems over collective liberation. The author of the source article, Dr. Jaime Hoerricks, contends that these LGB groups used trans activism to advance their own goals like marriage equality and military inclusion, and then abandoned trans individuals as anti-trans legislation has surged. Drawing on French feminist and philosopher Monique Wittig’s work, Dr. Hoerricks posits that this betrayal was inevitable because these groups sought inclusion within, rather than the abolition of, the totalitarian category of sex.
