Instead, it perpetuates segregation and inequality by favoring students who fit into the standards of the neuro-majority whilst neglecting students with disabilities and those from marginalised communities. Dr. Hoerricks uses Critical Theory and the Power Threat Meaning Framework to explain how standardised testing creates a sense of threat and failure for students, especially those with IEPs, and reinforces societal power structures that disadvantage them.
