We got lots to say. We got lots to say. Yeah, we got lots to say. Now here's Bobby and Matt.

0

33.41 - 37.215 Matt Cassel

Hey, hey. I know we're a few days out now, but have you ever been to the Masters?

0

37.976 - 40.038 Unknown

I haven't been to the Masters. I really want to go, actually.

0

Chapter 2: What are Bobby Bones and Matt Cassel's thoughts on The Masters?

40.078 - 53.375 Unknown

My brother's been the last four years. He was there Saturday, Sunday this year. Said it was incredible. You have the kind of pull that could get us to go to the Masters, though. I think that you have a little bit of pull yourself. We should combine our pull, then. We should do that.

0

53.395 - 59.103 Matt Cassel

Because I think individually, maybe we don't have enough pull individually, but to get our forces combined... We could definitely make it happen.

0

59.123 - 66.976 Unknown

We could probably go. And I think... Last weekend probably would have been the weekend to go because the weather was incredible all four days. It was a great tournament. Did you watch it?

0

67.257 - 84.373 Matt Cassel

Yeah. Well, I wanted a bunch of money. Did you? Yeah. You have Rory? I did. Did you? Golf is the hardest thing to bet because there's 10,000 players at the beginning of it, but I did bet Rory. It was good. It was fun. I've been before, but... I don't know. We should go or something. We should definitely go.

0

84.473 - 86.295 Unknown

I'm ready, but you weren't going to go this year anyway.

86.355 - 87.937 Matt Cassel

No.

88.037 - 96.747 Unknown

You're on the shelf for a little bit, buddy. Not a lot of travel. Have you played Augusta? No, I have not. And gosh, it looks beautiful. I think that course would eat me alive. Doesn't matter.

97.007 - 97.428 Matt Cassel

Doesn't matter.

97.488 - 100.031 Unknown

You played Augusta. I shot 110. I played Augusta.

Chapter 3: What is the story behind NFL prospect Reuben Bain?

2335.535 - 2355.867 Dean Blandino

That evaluator may say, hey, yeah, you should have thrown your flag. That was a block in the back. And they get what's called a downgrade. And just like players are graded, the officials are graded. And those grades accumulate throughout the year. And each position, there's seven positions out there, each position is ranked. You have 17 crews, 17 back judges.

0

2355.907 - 2370.435 Dean Blandino

They're all ranked against each other. So the top-ranked back judge, The top tier, those are the are the officials that are going to be eligible for for championship and Super Bowls. You have to meet a certain standard to be eligible for any postseason assignment.

0

2370.956 - 2390.974 Dean Blandino

If you're not if you're not if you don't meet that standard, you go into kind of a remedial phase where you're getting extra extra help. And if you continue to be in that position. lower tier, you get let go. So it's a pretty extensive process, and I can't think of another profession that is evaluated to that extent.

0

2391.054 - 2397.906 Dean Blandino

They really go through a lot, and it matters because the postseason assignments and whether you stay in the league depends on those grades.

0

2398.407 - 2404.097 Matt Cassel

Spoken or unspoken rule, are refs allowed to look at the board? Are they allowed to look at the jumbotron?

2404.145 - 2423.892 Dean Blandino

They're not supposed to. But here's the tell. You'll see sometimes if the officials get together, there might be two or three officials talking and there'll be one kind of listening, but off to the side. But they won't, you know, they're not supposed to like, but their eyes will be kind of looking up and they may be peeking. It's happened before. They're not supposed to, though.

2424.293 - 2436.902 Unknown

Based on what you just said, so could there be a crew that has never officiated together a game, but because they were the highest ranked official for that season as a back judge, that they're placed with a new crew?

2437.642 - 2453.231 Dean Blandino

Yeah. So for the postseason, the assignments are done individually. So the crews that work for the most part during the regular season, the crews, seven officials work together throughout the year. But then in the postseason, it's the highest ranked officials at each position.

2453.752 - 2471.46 Dean Blandino

And now you're trying to create some of the continuity so you can put some officials together that work together throughout the year. but it's not going to be the same seven officials for the most part. And you could get officials that haven't worked together. And that's always been the debate. You know, the teams don't split up when you make the postseason.

Chapter 4: What are Dean Blandino's insights on NFL referee negotiations?

3098.888 - 3113.352 Matt Cassel

What? Oh, no. Chickens are dead. What you do is when you finish a season, then you go to the NFL draft and then you draft for the next season. But I would make so many trades during the season that I would make all these trades, but then I'd have to, I would have six and seven. It doesn't matter.

0

3113.372 - 3115.795 Unknown

So you're playing fantasy football with your football team.

0

3115.815 - 3135.147 Matt Cassel

No, I'm playing Madden in the basement. In the basement. In my whitey tighties eating Doritos. Who was your team that you'd play with? And you always really have a good one. What I would do, though, is find a team. For example, I'd find a team with a really great quarterback on the last year of his contract, and I would trade him off for a couple younger players or draft picks.

0

3135.888 - 3155.812 Matt Cassel

And that's how I kind of build my team back. This is deep into the weeds. I like this. I haven't played anything in eight months. But college football became a game, though, more than Madden. Thanks, Dean, for coming on. That's Matt Castle. I'm Bobby Bones. Thanks to Kickoff Kevin and Brandon Ray. Appreciate you guys. We'll see you next week. We have had lots to say. Goodbye, everybody.
