One of the swingiest states in the country looks like it has picked one of the most liberal nominees for Senate it's ever done. Welcome to Super Tuesday. That's Chuck Donovan, Chris Silliza. All right. So, Chuck, I don't think a giant surprise about Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate primary. Most of the data suggested, you know, at least directionally, if not margin wise, that he was going to. come in first number one does the margin matter you know he didn't win by 20 as some of these i don't think either of us thought he was going to win by 20 but he didn't win by 20 does the margin matter let's talk about that quickly and i don't want to get to kind of like him as a nominee so look i think there's a few things that it can explain why the polls are wrong in michigan and the polls are almost always wrong in michigan because there's a lot of people just met
It's a tough it's not an easy state to poll with the party registration issue and all that stuff. It is amazing how often polling gets polling primaries are just a mess. Right. But I will say this. You know, a lot of times in primary polling in states with large African-American populations, the African-American vote is essentially underpolled in the polls. Higher undecided, perhaps. And that's because they you know, there's just less. And we know she was going to do well with African-American voters. So that explains, I think, why this was a tighter race than the polling itself was. seem to put out there. But again, if you anybody that has followed Michigan politics closely knows there's just even the people that have done this for a long time, you know, our friends at Epic MRA or the Mitchell research, they it's just tough.
And they've they've had some clunkers in the past with with with maybe margins out of whack. It's clear that everybody. Right. If if Stevens had a poll that had shown her up, she would have released it. Right. And she never totally.
