What is the MyWoosh indoor training pitch and why do the hosts recommend it?
You're listening to the cycling podcast Feminin at the 2026 Tour de France Femme, brought to you by MyWoosh, the virtual cycling platform to keep your indoor training varied, interesting and most importantly effective. Now I've been riding on the turbo for decades. I got my first turbo trainer in the mid-90s, and back then they weren't smart trainers, of course. You couldn't connect them up to screens. I mean there weren't any screens back then. Just a television set, but I do remember watching DVD highlights of the Jura d'Italia and Tour de France just to help the minutes tick by a bit more quickly on the turbo. I guess I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with it. I nicknamed it affectionately the Misery Machine, and it took quite a lot of willpower to get on and do a session.
And the training itself was fairly rudimentary. You could follow written instructions, but it was all done on feel. just pedal harder for a couple of minutes and then ease off and then pedal harder again for another couple of minutes. An interval session, but certainly not tailored to your current level of fitness and not structured in the way that the 700 training plans are structured on my woosh to take account of your current level and where it is you want to build to. But it was a way to ride through the winter. It was a solitary experience I have to say. And it was seasonal too. The turbo trainer would come out in October and I put it away again with a sigh of relief, it has to be said, in the spring when the evenings got a little bit lighter and you could ride outdoors.
But I think over the last decade or so, especially as technology has improved and platforms like MyWoosh have revolutionised the way that you can get fit and stay fit from the comfort of your own home. I think we've realized that the indoor bike is Not just for Christmas or the winter, it has a place all year round. And even though it's been a hot, sunny summer here in the UK, I still think that the indoor bike and the MyWoosh platform has a place in your training and riding because you can squeeze in a session when you're a bit pushed for time, or perhaps after dark, you can make some significant gains by following a training plan. And although it hasn't got any easier in the three decades, it's
Got a lot more enjoyable and the sense of community whizzing around with other people experiencing the same level of pain and discomfort on the indoor bike is something that provides a extra bit of motivation. So if you want to check out MyWosh, do so, go to mywoosh.com or download the app from the app store and get started today.
You are listening to the cycling podcast Femina, the 2026 Tour de France Femme with Rose Manley, Danny Gray and Lizzie Banks. Brought to you by Mahouche. Today we're in Nice.
Why did you do that? Why did you per close me to the barriers? Was it part of the plan? No, but like why? They can give me the answer also.
Well, we start tonight's Tour de France fam coverage with drama, don't we? Um That was the sound of Cash Nividoma just after the finish line, uh accusing Celia Geri, who is Demi Voloring's teammate, of barging her uh or blocking her into the uh barriers. And if you've seen the video, Celia Geri then kind of moves away from Cash Ividoma and Cashividoma gets escorted off. Now we're gonna go into all of that uh drama a little later, I assure you. But I mean we had drama on the road, didn't we? Uh in the racing, uh Denny Gray. And uh just the general feeling of being here in Nice versus being on that silent place in Montbontu, it just feels like a total contrast to yesterday, doesn't it already?
Yeah, I mean, well, just where we are is so different, isn't it? It's uh it's hard to believe. We're on top of a mountain at almost two thousand metres above sea level, kind of almost alone yesterday. And now we're in the hubbub of a very busy niece on a Saturday night, kind of by the old pool. It's absolutely buzzing, isn't it? And uh the press room it was kind of buzzing after after today's stage as well, 'cause it really had a lot to talk about on a stage where we thought it would be pretty straightforward, didn't we?
