Chapter 1: What are the highlights of Coca-Cola's AI-generated holiday ad?

0.672 - 16.836 Brian Maucere

Hey, what's going on, everybody? Thanks, and welcome to the Daily Eye Show Live. Today is November 4th, 2025. I'm joined by Anne and Beth, who's on there, and Brian as well. And then I'm Brian, and I think we have Carl come in maybe a little bit later. Welcome in. Glad you're here.

18.098 - 27.912 Brian Maucere

So today, we're going to be diving into some of the news topics, a little bit of carryover from yesterday, because Beth and I actually, I don't think we actually got to all the stuff we're talking about. There's been some...

0

Chapter 2: How did the UK court rule on the Stability AI copyright case?

28.195 - 47.243 Brian Maucere

additional add-ons to things like the AI commercials that I wanted to share on there as well. And then we're going to talk a little bit later. One of the things I know we're going to talk about is GPT-5. Now, I've been personally ranting about GPT-5 and saying how much I dislike it for a while now, but I will tell you, and we'll talk about this more later.

0

47.764 - 55.435 Brian Maucere

I was on with my coworkers yesterday, and I was, I will say, shocked to hear them basically parrot it back to me and go, yeah, us too.

0

Chapter 3: What are the current copyright challenges for AI-generated logos?

55.668 - 72.31 Brian Maucere

I thought it was just more me from the builder side and not the end user side, but that is not the case. So I'll be curious to hear, Anne and Beth, what you guys think, and if Carl's here, we'll ask him as well. But I could probably start ranting now and go for a straight hour.

0

72.29 - 96.073 Brian Maucere

I will tell you both, I've had a truly, truly miserable, miserable morning that started at about my time on the East Coast, about 530 with trying to build a solution for a client. And it's a custom GPT. It should not be anything that's difficult. But, man, I think they've changed something with the way they factor in.

0

96.374 - 116.569 Brian Maucere

Have you guys noticed that there's a change with uploaded files and how they kind of disappear? I think that is... This is not a five problem, so I won't put it in that bucket later. This is like a 4-0 problem too. It has messed with my prompting on how I use wake words and trigger words to make it easier for the user.

Chapter 4: What risks do early career workers face in AI-exposed industries?

117.149 - 133.636 Brian Maucere

And so it's using some sort of additional logic. Anyway, quite literally three hours of something that probably should have been an hour's worth of work this morning, and I'm still stuck on it. And having to tell the client, like, I'm stuck, which always is one thing to be stuck and silent about it. It's another one.

0

133.656 - 151.42 Beth Lyons

The client's like, what's going on? I have noticed that I can't verify what the files say. I used to be able to click on it and I can in if it's a gem, I can click on it and I can see what the file says because I have had the.

0

Chapter 5: What insights emerged from the Musk vs. Altman deposition?

151.855 - 165.392 Beth Lyons

what do your instructions say? Are you supposed to put words in this image? And it gave me back instructions that said it should put words in the image. And I was like,

0

165.828 - 166.749 Unknown

Yeah.

0

166.769 - 169.934 Beth Lyons

No, let me verify that file. And are you, right?

0

Chapter 6: What frustrations are developers experiencing with GPT-5?

170.095 - 177.686 Beth Lyons

It overwrites its own instructions if you have it generate the instructions. Is it overwriting the files? Because I am not with that. No.

0

177.706 - 194.257 Brian Maucere

I would normally say that's a five problem. Five gets a little too handsy. I think that's the way I like to explain five. It's really... Really, really like to get in there, throw an arm around where it doesn't belong. You know, just keep your hands to yourself, Five.

0

Chapter 7: How is Microsoft's Copilot integrating AI, and what issues are arising?

195.5 - 204.002 Brian Maucere

And, you know, I'm not a fan, but we can talk about that later. Maybe we'll get into some news here. But yes, all the other stuff we're prompting.

0

204.472 - 229.467 Brian Maucere

So as things go in the world of AI, sometimes the most frustrating thing is when OpenAI makes a small tweak or Gemini or any of them make a small tweak on their end that seemingly probably doesn't feel like much, but it causes downstream effects for lots and lots of devs. And that has been something that's been problematic since day one is that as a developer, I don't get a really clear picture

0

229.767 - 233.936 Brian Maucere

guidelines and understanding about when those things change. And so I can't predict them.

0

Chapter 8: What does OpenAI's future platform vision entail?

234.116 - 252.721 Brian Maucere

I can't plan ahead for them. And, you know, in my case, at least we're now, I'm now talking about hundreds of deployed, just custom GPTs among many former and current clients. And so this, this has real world implications. I mean, straight to the client and the way that Scaled works and everything else.

0

252.781 - 272.147 Brian Maucere

So anyway, one of the things I wanted to, I'll just kick it off with a really quick story and then I'll throw it to you guys. But I did see this, Beth, and you and I were talking, oh shoot, where did I go with it? You and I were talking yesterday about Gemini's commercial using AI and how they were like, Yeah, it's AI. And I was kind of like paraphrasing what one of their folks said.

0

272.167 - 289.255 Brian Maucere

He's like, I think people are sort of over indexing on whether it's AI or not. And kind of just being like, we're going to use this for some commercials. We're not. And I didn't know this yesterday, but when we were talking, we mentioned the Coca-Cola commercial last year. Well, they used AI again this year. And.

0

289.235 - 316.272 Brian Maucere

probably not surprising beth they also worked around the uncanny valley by uh doing a few things there was some stuff in here saying like the wheels look like they're moving a little bit more like down the road versus just sliding or skidding down the road and also they use a lot of different animals where us as the viewer is not really probably going to care whether it looks like the most perfect style of um well all they have a lot of seals and all sorts of animals in it

0

316.454 - 335.758 Brian Maucere

So I thought I'd just play just a hair of it. Now, yesterday, it skipped and stuttered. We'll see if it does any better today. But I'll just play a little bit of this really quick so you guys can see it. And then, yeah, we can move on.

335.778 - 337.5

Can you hear the sound? Yeah? Yep. Holidays are coming. Holidays are coming.

338.763 - 369.951 Ann Murphy

Holidays are coming. Holidays are coming. Holidays are coming. Holidays are coming. Here's the season. Watch out. Look around. Something's coming. Coming to town. Something magic in the night. Can you see it shining bright? Tis the season, it's always a real thing

378.335 - 405.015 Brian Maucere

I'll pause it there. At the very end here, lots of different animals, very much so in the animation style, not supposed to be photorealistic. It is interesting if you watch it with, I think, a keen eye. the levels of animation seem to move. There's not a real consistent style throughout all the... Like if you look at the polar bears, it looks like, well, that's one generated way.

405.035 - 415.552 Brian Maucere

But then if you look at the squirrels that actually have... I took it off the screen and freeze-framed, I would say, well, that's even... That's a still in animation, but at least clearly, but it's, it has a more realistic fur and looking.
