A woman accused of joining ISIS has been charged with terrorism offences, the Australian Federal Police has confirmed. The woman was detained in a Syrian refugee camp before returning to Australia in September last year. She's the fourth woman to be charged over links to ISIS this month. It comes after a cohort of women and children landed in Sydney and Melbourne on Tuesday night.

the second group to arrive in Australia from a Syrian camp in recent weeks. The woman charged today is not directly linked to the second cohort. While no one has been arrested from that group, the AFP said, quote, investigations are continuing into all the recent adult female returnees from Syrian camps.

The US military has carried out new strikes in Iran targeting a military site that officials believe posed a threat to American forces and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. That's according to an anonymous US official speaking to Reuters. The strikes come hours after US President Donald Trump dismissed an Iranian report of a deal to restore traffic through the strategic waterway.

Iranian state media cited a military source as saying the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Navy fired towards a US oil tanker that was trying to transit the strait, forcing it to turn back. The US military also carried out strikes in southern Iran on Monday in what it described as defensive action and Iran described as a gross violation of the ceasefire.

Chapter 2: What charges has the ISIS-linked woman faced?

The World Meteorological Organization has released a new report suggesting global temperatures will continue to break records in the coming years. It said a predicted El Nino event at the end of this year would contribute to 2027 being the next hottest year on record. There is a more than 90% chance that in any of the years from 2026 to 2030,

the world will be 1.5 degrees warmer on average than the temperatures across 1850 to 1900. Countries, including Australia, signed the Paris Agreement in 2015 as a commitment to keeping temperature increases at or below that threshold. The WMO noted that an individual year with these temperatures doesn't mean that the Paris Agreement's goals are impossible to reach long term, however.

And today's good news, the levels of forever chemicals in the eggs of a colony of wild seabirds have dropped by 70% over the last 55 years, according to a new study. Forever chemicals, or PFAS, are a group of chemicals that have been used in household products since the 50s. They don't break down easily in the environment and have been linked to a range of diseases.

Environment and Climate Change Canada scientists studied a colony of northern gannets on an island off Canada's east coast and found the levels of 17 forever chemicals in their bodies had decreased significantly since 1969. That's the latest from the Daily Oz newsroom. If you're looking for something else, you can catch up on this morning's deep dive where we explain what the hell a death tax is.

It's a great question and one I did not know the answer to myself. We will be back tomorrow with another deep dive, but until then, have a great night. YWCA Australia are the ones behind today's episode and they work on gender equality in really hands-on ways. Housing, leadership, advocacy and their membership is for people who really want to be involved in that work.
