Chapter 1: What are the New York Knicks fans excited about for the NBA Finals?
This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Hey guys, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but you know. Tired and sick. Tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. We're not boring.
A lot of news is boring. And tedious. And depressing. And makes you angry. You don't want to live your life like that. Hey, I'm Jack Armstrong. He's Joe Getty. We're Armstrong and Getty. We try to bring you the truth. And help you figure out this crazy modern world. How about something about a comedic tone? Have a winner. Yes.
Listen to Armstrong and Getty on demand on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season, and I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to, he's like, you know, I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to point game on the I heart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Your husband is not who you think he is. Your body is not what you thought it was. Your identity is formed by a secret history. I'm Dani Shapiro, and these are just a few of the stunning stories I'll be exploring on the 14th season of Family Secrets.
He kind of shoved me out of the way and said, move. And he went out the front door and he jumped in a car and drove off. And that was the last time I saw him.
Listen to season 14 of Family Secrets on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Chapter 2: How does Victor Wembanyama's debut impact the NBA Finals?
And if you could have Aaron Donald playing, even Aaron Donald half the time, even just home games, I would say absolutely. Sign me up because you got that guy with Miles Garrett. Now you're ready to go. And a defense that got roughed up I think five or six times last year gave up over 30 points, including two games against Seattle.
All right, 877-3DP-SHOW, email address dp at danpatrick.com, Twitter handle at dpshow. We say good morning if you're watching on Peacock. Thank you for downloading the app. And we say good morning to our radio affiliates as well. Victor Wimbenyama hits the worldwide stage tonight. It's one thing when you have somebody during the regular season, you'll see some highlights.
You might watch a game or two. But for the most part, I think most of your NBA fans consume highlights, not games. Unless it's your team, then you're going to be watching the totality of a season, a game. But this is different because now you're on the big stage. It's not just about highlights. This is about watching the entire game. And that's fun.
For me, I like when you're almost forcing people to watch a game instead of just a clip. Because somebody can watch a highlight and go, man, you know who's great? And you go, who? And then they'll tell you, and you go, did you watch the whole game? No, I saw a highlight. Well, that's how we're consuming sports now. And sometimes we think something is, boy, that was a great game.
And I'll go, no, no, no. A great finish, that doesn't mean it's a great game. Like even the Western Conference Finals, it was a battle. Those weren't great games. I mean, the first game, overtime, and Wembley had an unbelievable performance. I didn't think they were great games where it came down to, you know, diagramming one last shot. It was OKC. When they looked great, they won.
When San Antonio looked great, they won. You know, the Knicks, it was interesting when they faced the Hawks when they're down 2-1. After that, it wasn't interesting. I mean, Cleveland where you're down 22 and then you come back, and that was pretty much the series. Because I didn't think Cleveland was anywhere near what the Knicks were as far as talent goes.
And they ended up getting swept, of course. Now you've got a battle here. I expect this to be a battle. I think now let's separate the Knicks fan from reality here, if you can do that. And that is I think the Knicks are a great team. I think they they figured out cohesiveness. They figured out roles. I don't think they're deep, but I do think that they're really good.
And San Antonio is really good as well. And I know we're going to talk about experience or lack thereof. Well, the Knicks haven't been here. I know they've been in the NBA for a while. They're older players. In fact, San Antonio is the second youngest team in NBA Finals history. They average around 24 years of age.
The Portland Trailblazers in 1977-78 were the only team that were younger than them. I know the experience. You already went through OKC at OKC in a game seven. I think you're going to be OK. Oh, the Garden. OK. Well, Castle was played there. He played college games there. Harper has got NBA pedigree. Wemby's played in the Olympics.

Chapter 3: What rumors surround Aaron Donald's potential return to the Rams?
Yeah, the city's going to be rocking. The Knicks, this is the only time in my lifetime where the entire city will be behind one team. The only time that's even been remotely close is the 2001 Yankees, and that was because of 9-11. Yeah, yeah, good point. Yeah, Paulie? The NBA Finals will be broadcast to 215 countries in 60 languages.
And you don't know what this game will mean on players who are going to be watching this when they're young. Because that's where I go back to the Dream Team. The Dream Team gave us Wemby. The Dream Team gave us Luka. They gave us Joker. They gave us these players from around the world. And the NBA is reaping the benefits of that.
I mean, David Stern, God rest his soul, he knew what he was doing. He wanted global expansion. And the only way you were going to do that is if you humbled the rest of the globe. And they did that with the Dream Team. And those countries realized, can we have a Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley or Larry Bird? And you see, yes, they can. Yeah, Pauline.
There's this great article from the USA Today a few years ago about the Dream Team in 92. And Dirk Nowitzki says, that's when I got into basketball. I was good. I was decent. But that's when I said, this is what I want to do. Tony Parker of the Spurs said the same exact thing. Let's take a break. We'll settle on a poll question. We'll hear from Sean McVay after a press conference yesterday.
Also, Miles Garrett will talk about the pressure that he's facing going into the L.A. Rams. We're back after this. Dan Patrick Show. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Hey Jonas is available now and their first guest is a big one, Paul Rudd. You know, Steve Carell is a great singer. Can he tell you not to audition at the office or something? I told him. Whoa. We were filming Anchorman. Clearly, I was the idiot. Thank God he didn't listen to me, right?

Chapter 4: How does Sean McVay feel about Aaron Donald's return?
This is Saigon, the story of my family and of the country that shaped us. The United States will not stand by and allow any power, however great, take over another country. From iHeart Podcast, Saigon.
Please allow me to introduce Joseph Sherman.
You don't think I'm serious about a free Vietnam?
I should stop talking so much.
I like hearing you talk. One city, a divided country, and the war that tore America apart. This is for Vietnam.
I've taken a hit from Japanese ground fire. They're pouring petrol all over him. He's holding matches.
I'm on a landmine! For freedom!
Get out! Freedom moment! Run!
Saigon, starring Kelly Marie Tran and Rob Benedict.

Chapter 5: What strategies might the Rams use with Aaron Donald if he returns?
Talk to him about the opportunity to be able to bring him on board. If Aaron decides he wants to dust him off at the age of 35, I bet you he could still do it at a pretty high clip. Yeah, and Paulie reached out to J.J. Watt and asked him, what would Aaron Donald be facing? What are some of the hurdles coming out of retirement, hadn't played in a couple of years?
Now, he hasn't had serious injury like J.J. Watt did. I don't think Aaron Donald had any of those issues. career-interrupting injuries, maybe at the end, but I don't know if there was anything that was considered possible career-ending. But I think you can have him play 35 plays, maybe 30 to 35 plays. Now, I'm paraphrasing J.J. Watt. 30 to 35 plays, use him strategically.
you'll get back in football shape. You'll get back to that feeling of contact. And I don't know if there's any real downside to it other than do you want to do it? He's already won a Super Bowl. How much money are you going to pay him? Uh... Does he want to proceed?
The problem is I would have to, knowing how competitive Aaron Donald is, I'd have to say we, we together have to decide how many plays are smart for you. Because week one, week seven, week nine, week 17, I want you in January, I want you in February in this stadium playing in the Super Bowl. How do we go about doing that? This isn't how many sacks are you going to have. This is about you,
just being there in the lineup for X number of plays, giving that opposition another thing to think about. Yeah, Paulie. Remember in 2019, Rob Gronkowski retired, then he came back the following year to Tampa. And I can remember us covering that season.
We're like, you know, kind of a slow start for Gronk. Not a lot of reps, not a lot of targets.
And someone said, one reporter you had on said, they want him in January. Yeah. Yeah. That's all you want. I want you for the playoffs. At this stage, I want you for the playoffs. That's why I never cared about Tom Brady's regular season stats. And the only time I did was when they didn't win the Super Bowl, when they had Randy Moss. Because you couldn't ignore those numbers.
All I cared about was, is Brady going to be ready to go in the postseason? Peyton Manning can throw 50 touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes, 50 touchdowns. I mean, those are all nice numbers. All I care about is what did you do when you got to the postseason? Stay healthy. That's it. That's all you care about. But we do get caught up in the regular season numbers.
and they do hand out awards for the regular season. All I want to know, how healthy are you when you go into the postseason? And I think if the Rams could get Aaron Donald 30 to 35 plays, maybe you bring him in on strategic downs. But I just want to give you one more thing to game plan. I want you to have one more thought when you go to the line of scrimmage, that where is he? 99 is right there.

Chapter 6: What are the implications of the Knicks facing the Spurs in the Finals?
That's what you want. And I hope Wemby cries if he wins the championship. I hope Brunson cries if he wins the championship. Covering those Bulls teams, when Michael won the title, every year that he won the title, it was as if it was the first time he won the title. But his pressure was unlike anybody in the history of the game. He was supposed to win. He was favored to win. Expected to win.
It was relief. Jordan, when he's celebrated, it's almost exhaling. If Malone had won or Barkley had won or Sean Kemp had won in that run, they would have had pure joy, excitement, because they weren't expected. Now you've got both of these teams. And I know the Spurs are a slight favorite, but I look at them both as underdogs. I do, because the Knicks have lacked success.
San Antonio hasn't had success in quite some time, but they have had it as a franchise. And going into this year, what did we say? Or at least I did. I think they're a year away. And I was wrong. The Knicks, I think we thought, if not the Celtics, then the Knicks will be the team to beat in the East. I'm not surprised at all. But I am surprised at how well they play.
You know, Cleveland wasn't, you know, a consistently good team. We saw, I mean, you get swept. Atlanta, not a good team. 76ers, not a good team. Meanwhile, you got the Spurs going through Minnesota. And Minnesota, you can't go, well, it's Minnesota. Minnesota, always in the playoffs. Going to the Western Conference Finals. Denver, getting rid of OKC. Like, you went through the gauntlet.
Now you've got to keep your foot on the accelerator. Now the Knicks have to ramp up their game because what they played against in the playoffs as opposed to what they're going to play in starting tonight, completely different. This is a great defensive team, a team that wants to play. You've got kids who want to play defense, led by Wemby. Kids usually don't want to play defense.
But this is different. Yes, Mark. I think this is going to be a defensive battle because both teams, they do basketball camp like defensive drills. We got Ananobi, Mikkel Bridges, Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson. Those guys make their money on the defensive end of the ball. And just like you said with the Spurs, with Castle and Harper and Victor and Vassell and Champagne? That's how you say it?
Champagne?
Champagne?
Champagne? Champagne? Yeah. I'd go Champagne or something. I would, too. Champagne. But he's one of those guys where he's going to have a 20-point game in the finals. Like, man, who's this guy? I know. Andrew in Washington. Good morning, Andrew. What's on your mind? Good morning. Thanks for taking my call. I really appreciate it.

Chapter 7: How have the Knicks performed in recent playoff series?
Yeah, he had all these media guides and they'd be in his briefcase. And if you looked at his desk, you would have thought somebody got fired and they cleaned out their desk every single day. Todd did that. And he would load up his satchel and he would take all of those books home. Yes, Dylan. If you look at Todd's notebook, you'd think he's the Unabomber.
If you look at his desk, you'd think he's the Zodiac Killer. There's just nothing there. The movie Seven. Yes, exactly. That is the first time I saw his notebook and scribbling, and I did worry. I was like, who does this? It's a beautiful mind kind of thing. Not so beautiful. No. Hey, there's certainly a method to it, which makes you the best at what you do, but whoo.
That one scared me a little bit. I will admit there are times where I've looked at my notebook and I'm like, I can't read my own handwriting. It meant something at that moment, but I couldn't make it out. It feels like there's an encryption there, like there's something in there, like there's a message within the message within the message.
And I did feel, I have to be honest, that I thought I might be asked one day by police, how well did you know Todd Fritz? And then I'd have to distance myself. You know, he seemed like a nice guy. Obviously not well enough. I didn't think he was capable of doing all those horrible things. He kept to himself. Yes, Dylan. And then they pull up the quote from tonight.
We're celebrating our 24th anniversary together. It seems like you knew him pretty well. Let's take a break. Our play of the day is next. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsportsradio.com. And within the iHeartRadio app, search FSR to listen live. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news.
What's the news, Nick? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Yeah, a pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with the name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it, and... Well, we were thinking of originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. Oh, wow. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Just listen.

Chapter 8: What legacy boost could players like Wemby and Brunson gain from the Finals?
Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. I can't do the Bulls roster and salary cap and draft picks. Not today.
Not today.
Not today. Yeah. Maybe call the score. Maybe call Tom Waddle. Ask Waddle about this. But thank you, Jeff. Just not today. And the Twins bullpen is a mess. What do you think? Yeah, but the Twins are playing now at least. It's the offseason for the Bulls. Yes, Todd. But you covered the Bulls all those years. I did. You have a special affinity towards Chicago basketball.
The number of people covering the Bulls back then. In person. Yeah, I'm like, I never saw you. Yep, I covered the Bulls. Yes, Marvin. I'm still laughing at, what do you think Josh Giddey has? That is not a name we're trying to talk about right now. I don't think so. I don't think so. Yes, Dylan. You were devastated when they traded Kobe White to the Hornets.
I was.
Remember that? I haven't gotten over that yet. Yes, Paul. I was thinking about this. I was talking with our guy, Rob, one of our producers in the back, and he is completely anxious about the Knicks game tonight. Not excited, but anxious. And it's understandable. And he said something the other day. He goes, I just want one in my lifetime. As a Knicks fan, you want one. I think everyone gets one.
So if you're like a Bulls fan or some of these dynasty teams, it's like you're full. You almost shouldn't ask for any more. Yeah, I don't want to hear long-suffering Bulls fan. I'm sorry. If you're 22 years of age, okay, your entire life. But I don't want to hear long-suffering. Oh, the long-suffering Yankees fan. Yes, Dylan.
Does the like Paul said, you just want one in your lifetime, particularly if you root for certain teams like, you know, Chicago sports, Mets, whatever. When does that count? Do you have to have been not born or if you're like three and they win a title? Does that I think you have to be aware of it. You have to be. Yeah, that's kind of what I think. Like 10.
I would say 8, 9, 10, where you know the starting lineup, you get to stay up, you maybe go to a couple of games. I would say that probably would be my criteria. Red in Georgia is back. Hi, Red. What do you have for me today? Thanks for taking the call, Dan. Dan, I want to talk about the finals and how we start the finals off, especially when you're refereeing this final.
