Greetings, welcome, welcome everybody to the Don Lemon channel, to the Don Lemon show. But oops, where's Don Lemon? He's not here this morning. He'll be back with you later today. But in the meantime, it's your sis, it's your friend, it's your fellow Lemonhead. Happy to be with the Lemon Nation, to keep Dawn's seat warm, to keep the mic hot, and to bring you, of course, all the news you can use and break it down with the experts, with the people who we have here who know far more than me about all the topics. There is so much, frankly, to be discussed. It was tough to figure out what comes first and why. There's never a dull moment with this Trump administration. We have wars. We have rumors of wars.
We have domestic concerns like the Supreme Court taking a hatchet. to the VRA, to the Voters Rights Act. We have so much that we could be discussing, and we're going to bring you the best we possibly can. Starting with, it looks like maybe, perhaps, that we can't believe anything that the current occupant of the White House says. It looks like we may be close to a deal. that would end the Iran war, the unnecessary war of choice. It seems that maybe we might have something that could stop the war that never should have started. And it's coming at the exact same time as our Secretary of State Rubio is visiting with the Pope, with the person who heads Vatican City and the Catholic Church around the world.
And I'm not going to be talking to you about these things by myself. Instead, I'm joined by my friend, my sister, political strategist, foreign affairs expert, host of her own show, which I'm sure she's going to tell us about. Hi, Nola Hanks. Hi, Dr. Nola Hanks. How are you? Good morning, gorgeous Monique Presley and all that red looking stunning. Well, you know, I try to do what I can. I knew you were coming, so I had to let go. Nikki gave me 10 minutes. She was like, girl. So, Nola, what can you tell us? Are we about to be at an end to this conflict? Let's get there first, because I know you'll have the information. Ooh wee, Iran. We're in an interesting phase of this because it seems to be the same phase we're always in.
But one of the things that I want to draw people's attention to, yes, there is yet another conversation about a potential peace deal. But Iran wants the United States to give up things that the United States does not want to give up. But what has happened over time with this war We have now ceded so much ground regarding the narrative. Iran definitely owns the narrative. I mean, they drop music videos, what, every day? Pretty much now at this point. That's how a lot of people are getting their foreign policy news. And then we have situations where it's looking like the U.S. military isn't able to gain control of the Strait of Hormuz. So again, that's another gut punch to the way in which the United States military and frankly, our leaders are looking around the world.
And right now that's a bit crazy. Right. And I think that the occupant who people elected president had something to say about that. If we could play that now and get response from you.
They want to make a deal badly, and we'll see if we get there. If we get there, they can't have nuclear weapons. You know, it's very simple. But what's not to submit? So they had a Navy with 159 ships, and now every ship is blown to pieces and lying at the bottom of the water. They had an Air Force, lots of planes, and they don't have any planes. They don't have any anti-aircraft. They don't have any radar left. Their missiles are mostly decimated. They have some. They have probably 18%, 19%, but not a lot by comparison to what they had. And their leaders are all dead. So I think we won.
NOLA, did we win? First and foremost, the first thing that came out of his mouth was a fabrication about Iran wanting a deal really, really bad as if to suggest that they are on their knees begging the United States. When people need to understand that Iran is very used to living through hard and challenging times. What's interesting about what the president did not say to the American people is the amount of damage that's occurred across many of our bases in the Middle East.
