What is the episode's opening and guest introduction?

Don Lemon 0:04
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Living Live at 5. Okay, we're going to talk. But you're shaking your head. You like the music, Simone?
Symone Sanders-Townsend 0:13
I love the music. This is great, Don.
Don Lemon 0:15
Isn't it cute? It's cool, right? So let me tell you. This is our show where we talk to our subscribers. You know all about this whole digital thing. Yes. And yesterday, Sunny Hostin was my guest. You know the traffic in New York because of the UN, right? This here is crazy. She was about 15 minutes late. And people were like, Don is on CP time. I'm like, nope, I'm not on CP time.
Symone Sanders-Townsend 0:37
My guests are. It's not me.
Don Lemon 0:39
So it's Simone on CP time today.
Symone Sanders-Townsend 0:41
Well, you know, I was scheduled quite tight today. So we are tardy because of me, everyone, not Don.
Don Lemon 0:48
She's not tardy for the party. Look, we know you're very busy, Simone, so we appreciate you being on. No worries. I'm so glad to have you. So let me tell you what I'm going to do. Let's take Simone off until I go through this, and then we'll bring her back in. So Simone, it's so good to see you. Thank you very much. So, you know, from Mark Robinson to Eric Adams, it has not been the greatest of weeks for black men in politics. Black women, on the other hand... Well, or one black woman, I should say, in particular, is doing just fine. According to a brand new poll, finally there's some good news on the polls for you guys, okay? Because you were mad at me because I was giving you some polls and you were like, eh, we're not digging that.
Don Lemon 1:27
This is a poll from YouGov. Vice President Harris is holding her edge over the former President Trump in Michigan and in Pennsylvania. In Michigan, the survey found that Harris is leading Trump 48% to 43%. That's overall. In the Keystone State of Pennsylvania, Harris is ahead 48% to 46%. It's tight, but it is still a lead. So we have so much to discuss, and I am blessed, as you just saw, to be joined by Another brilliant, badass black woman, and that is none other than Simone Sanders-Townsend. She's a co-host of MSNBC's The Weeknd. Prior to that, she was a chief spokesperson and senior advisor to the vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris. And before that, she was a contributor where we met on CNN, and we gained this great, great, great friendship.
Don Lemon 2:11
How are you doing?
Symone Sanders-Townsend 2:12
I'm doing well, Don. It's great to join you. I miss you. It's good to be here.
Don Lemon 2:17
I miss you as well. So, Simone, before we dig into the nitty gritty, I just need the audience to understand just how far we go back and how much I adore you. And I hope this isn't too much of a curveball, but this is one of my favorite clips of all time on cable news ever.
Symone Sanders-Townsend 2:40
It's Black History Month. We've got to talk about Omarosa. All right. I'm just saying, look, it is Black History Month, okay? Carter G. Woodson did not go to the mat to get Negro History Week that eventually turned into Black History Month for us to talk about Omarosa on her apology tour and her attempt to salvage her reputation on a reality television show. Not during Black History Month, guys. Mm-mm. These are the facts. Scott, you going to back me up? All right. Scott Jennings is a national treasure, okay? A national treasure.
Don Lemon 3:24
I don't know that those moments exist on cable news anymore. Those were the days. We had great chemistry, so I love you.
Symone Sanders-Townsend 3:32
I love you too, John.
Don Lemon 3:33
That comes back every Black History Month.
Symone Sanders-Townsend 3:34
Every Black History Month comes back every time I'm in the airport. You know, as I was, I mean, to be, as we were, Melissa Murray and I have this special about Black women in America that's airing on Sunday on MSNBC. And as we traveled across the country, Black women would even, as we're in the airport, they are coming up like... I love you and Don. I'm like, me and Don ain't been on the same TV together in I don't know how long. But the people love the clip. Because it comes back.

What do the hosts say about recent polling showing Harris ahead in Michigan and Pennsylvania?

Don Lemon 4:01
It goes viral every, the beginning of every Black History Month. Someone will say, we cannot start Black History Month off without this. And Omarosa needs to have a better sense of humor because she gets mad at us. you know anyway we won't go there okay so simone because you know i'm so blessed to have you these you're the former senior advisor to the vice president i just want to mainly stick to the presidential race this evening however i feel the need i want to catch our audience up you and our audience up i think you know on the biggest news of the day and that's this indictment from the new york city mayor eric adams five federal charges related to bribery wire fraud conspiracy and soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals
