Now, if you guys only knew the shenanigans that happen around here, you would. We're going to get to it. I'm going to expose my staff members in just an expose on the Don Lemon Show staff members. You are not going to believe it. Hello, Boomer.
Unknown 0:31
Hi, Boomer. How are you?
Don Lemon 0:33
He's waiting for Papa to come home. That's my baby boy. That's the goat, the original right there. Boomer, the Boomer. So welcome to the program, everyone. I'm going to get right to it. Welcome to Lemon Live at 5. Like and thumbs up. It affects the algorithm. I want to talk about what has been a very bad, terrible, awful week for Donald Trump, and that's not hyperbole, or as some people say, hyperbole. It's not hyperbole. Not a slow news week where you have to look hard for losses, where you're like, oh, I got to get something. No, it's a week where the losses kept arriving like waves. It just kept coming. One after another after another. I know maybe that's why he was absent this week. He was just tired of losing.
Don Lemon 1:14
Losing. Okay. Congress, the courts, the courts. The courts are in here, working it out. The courts, his own party, his own officials, his own agenda, his own poll numbers, his own concert, right? Remember all the people dropped out, dropped out, like into the last week. So it's been, by the week we mean within the last week, seven days or so. So I wanna be precise about all this because the facts matter and the record is clear. I want everything to be clear. And I'm gonna start with the breaking news. Give me a thing that says breaking news. because Trump loses Kennedy Center battle. I want to start with the Kennedy Center, or Trump's name removed, ordered to remove from the Kennedy Center. Something happened in the last hour that I want to tell you about.
Don Lemon 2:05
This afternoon, the Kennedy Center's general counsel sent a memo to all staff ordering them to immediately remove Donald Trump's name from that building. They want it removed loser from the building, from the facade, from the signs, from the letterhead, uh, from the email signatures, very similarly to what they did to buildings in New York that had Trump's name on it. And I believe buildings around the country that had Trump's name on it. When he ran, they were like, take it off. We can't rent. We can't rent them. We can't sell them or the businesses in these buildings are suffering. They took the name off of those buildings. People did not want to be targets either. It was removed from every document, from every digital and physical surface that bears his name.
Don Lemon 2:56
Again, that is according to the reporting. And they have to do it by June 12. June 12. Today is June, what is it, 6? June 4th. So they have eight days to remove all of it. Now, you remember what happened in December, right? The board put his name on the building. Workers came in the middle of the night and added the Donald Trump and... Donald Trump and, not that they added it to the building, Donald Trump and, but they put it above the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts name. They put it before the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. Can you imagine the gall it takes To put his name in front or above John Kennedy, who does he think he, Donald Trump thinks he's like something, besides a clown show.
Don Lemon 4:03
So they did it within hours. They did it before like Washington, D.C. ever woke up in the middle of the night. And last week, U.S. District Judge Casey Cooper ruled that was illegal. Congress gave the Kennedy Center its own name, its name in 1964 before anybody who's on this show was born except for Daniel. Only Congress can change that name. The Trump appointed board had no authority to do what they did. Take it down. That's what the judge said. And now the memo has gone out immediately, immediately. Email signatures, letterhead documents, the facade of the building, all of it. Back to the John F. Kennedy Center, Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. They put his name up with workers and cranes in December, and they will take it down with workers and cranes in June next week on camera in Washington, D.C., because a court said so.
