Who is testifying and what is the breaking news about Pam Bondi?
good morning everybody we start with breaking news breaking news hot topics but breaking news needs to be down there bondi testifies okay so uh you're looking at the house committee you're looking at the house floor and there he is mr jim jordan we know jim jordan Republican who is going to be leading this ahead of the oversight. And so the majority here. So Pam Bondi is going to face the Congress today hearings on exactly why they are stonewalling and dragging this out again. This is the breaking news that's happening as we go. We're waiting for it to start. And as soon as we started, that's when they started. So I'm going to listen in to Jim Jordan just a little bit, and then we're going to have some folks to discuss the legal ramifications of this and political ramifications and exactly what is going on here.
But this is Pam Bondi. She's going to be asked questions, I'm sure, about Epstein, about the president and the administration targeting perceived political rivals or enemies, and also what is happening on the ground in America with these people, with folks being detained today or just throughout the country. So let's watch a little bit. This is, again, Jim Jordan starting this, but Pam Bondi is about to be questioned in just moments. 24, ICE sends a detainer notice to the Denver Justice Center saying this. If you're going to release Mr. Gonzalez, can you give us a heads up?
This doesn't seem right.
Can you let us know maybe 48 hours before you're going to release this guy so we can come back?
Let's go to the Associated Press.
This seems something that's different. Remember, a detainer is a final order of removal from a court where this individual or this individual has committed some removable offense. So I think it is correct if you can turn it down. I think it is. I think he's talking about what he is talking about is he's trying to, you know, say that these immigrants are violent and he's giving examples of violence and people who have been arrested or picked up or what have you with, you know, because of undocumented crime committed by undocumented immigrants. Now, listen. As I have been saying and everyone has been pointing out, people who are of who are logical that every single demographic in the world, no matter where you come from, people commit crimes.
It's just human. Humans do that, sadly. But undocumented people commit far less crime. in the United States than natural-born citizens of the United States. Now, I don't know if you guys remember, this is, I don't know if it's going to be a repeat, but do you remember the last time Pam Bondi went before a congressional panel? That was in October, and she stonewalled Democrats for four hours and read from a list of scripted insults in response to their questioning of her conduct. She just sort of read from a script, said the same thing over and over. And instead of answering the questions, she attacked the people who were asking the questions. But that stone walling and the stall and brawl strategy is not likely to work as well when she testifies before the House Judiciary Committee this morning.
It didn't work then. People saw through it. It's not going to work now. She is this time expected to face even more tough criticism bipartisan skepticism over her handling and perceived bungling of the release of this these investigative files related to the convicted sex offender now did jeffrey epstein And you guys know this comes days after some lawmakers visited the Justice Department office to look through unredacted versions of these files. And you saw Democrat and Republicans walk out just aghast of what they had seen and heard and also wondering why Ghislaine Ghislaine Maxwell is in a minimum security prison instead of a maximum security prison and why now she is asking for clemency. As part of an arrangement with the Justice Department, lawmakers were given access to over three million release files in a reading room with four computers and were allowed to take handwritten notes.
