What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hello, everybody. Welcome to Lemon Live at 5, the Don Lemon Show. It is a serious Friday here. You know, sometimes we joke around on Fridays. We'll have our sour lemon of the week or we'll have a comedian on just to sort of take you into the weekend and to sort of burn off all the negativity and all the craziness that happened during the week, earlier in the week. But unfortunately, today, we cannot do that because I'm gonna say this very plainly and very clearly, okay? Before I say things very plainly and very clearly, first order of business, as you know, hit the like and the thumbs up because it affects the algorithm. More people become aware of our channel and it is really important today that you do that.
So can you do it? I'll stand by class and wait. And please put that in the top of the chat for me, producers. Thank you so much. So I'm gonna say it very plainly and clearly. What happened here is just, it's just flat out racist. No other way to put it. Like there is just no other way to put it. There's no debating it. There's no whatever. If you're making an excuse for it, you're out of your damn mind. Donald Trump posted an AI video depicting the Obamas as monkeys. Let's just show you a frame of it. And then I'm going to show you the video in just a little bit. And so this is depicting the Obamas as monkeys. Not a joke. This is not a joke. That's not politics. That is just plain old racism. And we should say it plain and simple.
It is just racist. Even Republicans denounce it. It was so egregious that it had to be removed. And yet Caroline Leavitt, who is the White House press secretary, had the nerve, had the gall to say that it was, oh, this is just a joke. It's a joke from the Lion King that people needed to learn to take a joke. Are you out of your fucking mind, Caroline Levitt? No, no, no. There is nothing funny about depicting the former president or anybody, as a matter of fact, as apes or monkeys or anything. It is revolting. Thank you. the comments revolting telling black people or anyone who is offended by this that it's a joke is vile and it shows that you shouldn't even be in this job it shows your incompetence everyone people think oh my god you know she's great she said donald trump always says that no she's not anyone can stand there
at a podium and call on a reporter and then cut them off and not let them follow up and call somebody else's name. It's not that hard to do, especially if you can just lie with impunity. It's not that hard. So Caroline Leavitt, fuck off with this bullshit. And then after that, just as they do every single day, Caroline Leavitt has the thing in the press briefing room. She has the briefing and then she lies or whatever. And then Donald Trump goes and undermines her and does what? And says the exact opposite of what she claimed there. So this time did the same thing. After she said it was a joke and then they claimed it was posted by a low level staffer erroneously. Now, excuse me, why is a low level staffer in charge of the president's social media?
That is the most important feed in the world, which is bizarre, but it is. And look, I know this is in TikTok, his true social, whatever. It's not a personal account. This is a big deal. And let me tell you why, all right? Because Donald Trump announces policies and decisions and things that affect every American life and the world. That's where he posts it. So this is not an excuse. This is incompetence. And that is inexcusable. This administration at the very bottom, the core, is incompetent. And a lot of them, many of them, are racist. And You can tell by their actions, what they do, what they say. I mean, come on, Stephen Miller.
Was Donald Trump's Truth Social post depicting the Obamas as apes overtly racist?
So yes, this is racist. Yes, it's horrifying. Yes, it is reckless and incompetent. And let me tell you this. This is what we don't do here. There's no need for panels debating whether this counts as racism. Is it racist? Did he mean to say it was a staffer? No, no, no. We do not have time for that. debating whether this counts as racism or that Trump is just being Trump.
