What does Don mean by the “cabinet from hell” and who’s named so far?

Don Lemon 0:22
Hi, everybody. So happy that you're here. I'm glad that you are part of the Don Lemon show today. Here's my question. What is going on? What is going on? Have you been able to see this cabinet from hell? And I'm not exaggerating. This is not hyperbole. OK, the cabinet from hell. Welcome to Lemon Live at 5. I'm so glad that you're here. Also, sorry about this morning. We didn't do our hot topic show because I am in Los Angeles. So I was on a plane. It would be very difficult to do a show from the plane. I'm sure you understand. So the cabinet from hell, that's what some are calling this slate of maga loyalists. that Trump has begun adding to his White House team. Among them, Elise Stefanik. You know Elise Stefanik, right?
Don Lemon 1:06
She was a never-Trumper and then became a Trump loyalist, Trump sycophant. She's going to be the UN ambassador. And then there's Lee Zeldin. Lee Zeldin will be the head of the EPA. Tom Holman, as we reported yesterday, was thinking about it, but he has officially been named the border czar, even though there is not such a position, but I think You know, Trump wants to call him the border czar. And then we have puppy killer Kristi Noem is going to be head of the DHS. And then little Marco, Marco Rubio. And these are nicknames that Donald Trump came up with. So it's not me. It's going to be the secretary of state. So all of those were announced just within 24 hours or so. But the headlines really have been somewhat overshadowed by this declaration from Trump today that he is going to roll out reparations.
Don Lemon 1:52
No president in history has said, hey, we should have some reparations for slavery. Well, even now with this reparation announcement, reparations announcement, there's still no reparations for slavery, okay? Because it's reparations for white people. You heard it right. I'll explain. Tim Wise is here, the perfect guest to talk about this, an author, a senior fellow at the African American Policy Forum, and a proud critical race theorist. Tim. Yes. You're the only person I had in mind when talking about what how are you? What is going on? What do you make of this?
Tim Wise 2:29
Well, first off, it's just good to be back with you again after a long time since I was on your CNN show many, many times in the past. Good to be with you in this much more freeform space where you can really investigate these things and discuss them at length. Now, I'm doing fine, I guess. I mean, I'm amused. by the idea that Kristi Noem is going to be the head of Homeland Security. I assume that they have come to the conclusion that the great terrorist threat is coming from dogs now, which she is perfectly appropriate to respond to that threat. I mean, if dogs are the ones setting off bombs, if dogs are the ones that we ought to be worried about. Kristi Noem is definitely the one who you want to enforce homeland security.
Tim Wise 3:08
But the rest of this is a bit preposterous, except insofar as it might reduce the Republican majority in the House. So, you know, pick another rep. That's great. Pick another senator. Great. I mean, that's fine. Take them from there. But but I think, you know, in general, I think where I am is where a lot of folks are. I hope I feel like there are some people who were shocked by what happened on Tuesday last week. I have to tell you, I was not shocked.
Don Lemon 3:34
By the way, Tim, just real quickly, your microphone is hitting on the shirt, the collar. Oh, sorry. OK. OK, very good. I wasn't shocked. Go on.
Tim Wise 3:42
Yeah, I wasn't shocked. I mean, I didn't necessarily think it was going to happen, but I wasn't surprised by the fact that it did. I sort of take the same position that D.L. Hughley, I heard him say this many years ago after Trump won the first time. He said, you know, the Obama, the eight years of Obama was sort of the intermission at the Broadway show. Right. You've been at the show for the first act. You get the intermission, you get up, you get your refreshments, you use the bathroom, you stretch your legs, and then you go back to your regularly scheduled programming, so to speak. Right. In a way, I don't think we should ever be shocked when America, the noun decides to America, the verb, if you know what I mean, like America doing this thing where we revert to sort of white hypermasculine domination is not exactly rare.
