Hey everyone, it's Dr. Mark Hyman. Thank you so much for being a loyal listener to The Doctor's Pharmacy. In fact, an 8% higher risk of irritable bowel is associated with every 10% increment in ultra processed food.
And we eat about 60% of our calories as ultra processed food. That's a 48% increase in irritable bowel given the diet we eat. Now together, the under eating of the good stuff and the overeating of the bad stuff increases the risk of nutrient deficiencies.
