Well, uh, I love how Josh Pate's career is literally it's a rocket ship. Now he's on he's on the other network. Okay, I can say it. ESPN, busting with the boys and Josh Pate. God, I love watching your career. You know what? I I just got uh our friend Jamie Horowitz sent me a picture last night. But he was with you. And he's like, Man, how good is this guy? You know, you're a humble guy. A lot of my so my southern friends are humble. They don't want to talk about it. They had good parents or something. I don't know what it is with you southern guys. You always like humble. You know, you guys still go to church. The rest of us heathens, you know, us coastal guys, you just for one second. What is it like to be you right now?
Your last eighteen months, holy shit, Josh. It's great, right?
Yeah, uh, we talk about you guys every Sunday, by the way. We talk about you every single Sunday. So uh I did an interview last week. Someone said, Um, where do you want this to go? You know, the whole what's next thing. And I'm a I'm a huge fan of the office. I love that quote from Andy Dufrain about the good old days. You got to realize you're in them when you're in them. And I told the person where I'm going right. Like this, this is it. This is what I've aspired to do. I've just aspired to to kind of be at the epicenter of college football. This is not a means to an end. I don't want to, I'm not interested in the NFL or the NBA. I just I love college football. And here's the part, here's why I'm humble about it, because there's a lot of it that's out of my control.
So if I were to have come along in 1992, podcasting, YouTube, the entire digital sphere, what you and I are doing. Right now, it's not afforded to us. So we've got to find distribution and overhead somewhere, and it's going to be out of our control. And so, like you live, you've lived both lives. I have to an extent, but I was fortunate enough to kind of come along in an era where those Berlin walls, so to speak, were falling down. And there were these opportunities to just do it your way. And if it screws up and if it crashes and burns, whatever. But that's the part. that keeps me humble is I kind of know how blessed and lucky I am that that exists. Cause I didn't build that. I I'm not responsible for that.
Yeah, well, I'm I'm very happy for you. So let me throw this at ya. Um I Trinidad Chambliss for the last two years has been my favorite player in college football. I don't know if he's a Sunday player. I don't really care. I will say I covered Tommy Fraser in Nebraska, beating Florida in the Fiesta Bowl. I was there, fifty yard line in the s you know, upstairs in the media room. I knew Tommy Frazier, I didn't think that would transition to pros. I just didn't. I think Thought he was a great college player. Uh, there have been other guys. Uh Tim Tebow, Jake Locker got drafted. I grew up in Seattle. I told people that's not gonna work in the NFL. Trinidad Chamblett, I think, can work in the NFL. You know, people said Bryce Young's too small, and I'm like, Dan David Canales, all those tall receivers.
