you're an LA guy. You've been in Chicago for like five minutes. You've had a couple deep dish pizzas, and now you're Mr. Windy City. Okay, like let's settle down. You're an LA guy. We're gonna be hanging out this week, right? One of these nights? Maybe Thursday. Maybe Thursday. Okay.
So uh NFL teams, week one, believe it or not, was the highest scoring week one since when? The nineteen seventy AFL NFL merger. That is nuts. Why? Well, we've been on this for years. I think it's the best offensive coaching ever, and I think it's the best quarterback play ever, and I would point to one player to prove it. If I said Jacoby Brissett, most of you would say, Well, he's not a top ten quarterback. He's not a top fifteen quarterback. You'd probably put him somewhere seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty one. And his last thirteen starts with a battle line and a rookie coach and a fired coach. He has a ninety five passer rating. And leads the NFL in passing yards. Jacoby Brissett. Tell me a time in your life.
Where a ninety five passer rating And leading the NFL in passing yards for a major playing almost a season is the twentieth best quarterback in this league. So now Bill Parcells loved him years ago. We c we kind of all viewed him as a bounce around the league guy. I think quarterback plays amazing. And we're going into a season where many believe we're going to have another Burrow, Herbert, you know, one of those years we get four or five quarterbacks or like the Caleb, Drake May, you know, Jaden Daniels. You get several quarterbacks who can play. So I I I think we have great quarterback play. There's more passing camps, there's more nuance, there's better coaching, and also obviously over the last fifteen years the league has regulated some of the violence out of the sport.
But I mean think about this. Three years ago, Aaron Rodgers was heading to the Jets, and we absolutely viewed him as a top eight quarterback. Maybe better. Three years later, I don't think he's top fifteen. It just doesn't move well enough. All the young guys move better. With that, Albert Brewer is joining us. All right, we were talking um Monday morning quarterback. Is that I had somebody tell me this years ago. Your your boss's is a really smart agent. Is that your bosses make a decision six months before you know it? They've already had the meetings upstairs. They've made the decisions. The NFL Albert is very much like that. Discussions are taking place. Last year in Philadelphia, when they lead the league in three and outs with a stacked roster, there are conversations being had about are are we ride and die with Jalen Hurts forever?
Like what what's going on with this roster? I watch Bo Nicks and I know Sean Payton was in dead cap hell when he took the job in Denver and they couldn't move up. Because they didn't have the draft capital because they'd spent it on Russ. And so he's like, listen, we're not gonna get Drake May, we're not gonna get Jaden Daniels, we're not gonna get Caleb. We're gonna make Bonex work. But the scouting community, as you know, thought of Bonex as a late first lower ceiling guy.
