A listener production.
Okay, are you recording? Radio team, here is an episode for you. Welcome along to episode 270 of the Howie Games Part A, featuring absolute jet NBA star Josh Giddey.
Giddey, the spin on Halliburton. Oh, nice. Nice move by Josh Giddey. Oh, there it is. Giddey takes the breath away of the fans here in Tokyo. Good steal, Josh Giddey. He throws it down. Carter sets up a screen. Giddey raises to the basket. Fires it out. Bucinich the shot. Nice defense by Josh Giddey. And done in the passing lane. It's tipped out to Giddey for three.
Oh, Giddey up. This episode was recorded with Josh in April, just before he was about to head to the G to watch the footy, in conjunction with the launch of his epic shoe. Yep, the man has got his own shoe with Puma, the Puma All Pro Nitro 2 Giddy, which are available to whack on your feet right now. So get to the shop, get online, get them on your feet.
Now, when you hear Josh's story and what he has achieved already, you will realise why Puma have given him a shoe. This is a normal, engaging 23-year-old dude living a very abnormal life in the NBA. Some very cool stories about to come your way.

Chapter 2: What inspired Josh Giddey to pursue basketball over football?
We've got mutual mates, Luke Tunnicliffe, that you go to the footy with a lot. You love the footy. And he tells me you know more about the game than anyone else he knows.
Yeah. No, I do know a lot about it. And obviously I grew up, you know, playing it until I was about 15, 16. I grew up my whole life, you know, watching Buddy Franklin was my favorite player when I was a kid. Are you a Hawthorne supporter? I was a Hawks man growing up my whole life. What? Yeah. What happened? I didn't.
I'm not going to say I switched, but I became a Collingwood fan just because I became close with Tommy Mitchell and the Dacos brothers. And I just became mates with them. So I used to watch a lot of their games. And then I started going to a lot of Pies games. So naturally started following them a lot more. But, you know, footy, I'll literally go to any game. Marvel, the G, Interstate.
Like we were flying to Adelaide for the prelim finals last year. So I'll go watch any game. But, yeah, always been a big footy fan. Love it. Watch as much as I can.
So it's a Hawthorne v. Collingwood tonight. So are you going back? to your roots as a young man, or are you going, because Tommy Mitch doesn't play for the Pirates anymore, obviously the Dacos boys do. Who are you actually going for tonight? I'm a neutral tonight. I'm not going for anyone. Neutral. Sit on the fence. Sit on the fence.
Before we get into hoops, et cetera, your footy career, who were you playing with? Were you playing APS for the St. Kebs, or who were you playing footy with?
I played one year APS in year eight. I was basketball seven, nine, ten. But year eight, I took a year off basketball and went to footy. And then juniors, I played in the Western WRFL for the Avilson Eagles my whole career. So yeah, as I said, when I got to about 16, I had to decide which path I was going to take. And it wasn't an easy decision for me. I was really contemplating going with footy.
But obviously, it got to a point where I had to pick and I chose basketball. And I haven't regretted the choice, but I've always wondered what if and what could have been with footy.
We'll get into it, but I reckon your financial planner would be reasonably happy with the decision you made. So what position did you play? Were you a spring heel Ruckman or a forward? And then I want you to compare yourself to a current player as a footballer.

Chapter 3: How did Josh Giddey feel during his unforgettable buzzer beater against LeBron James?
I was Norman Gunston for a whole year. Piss off. No, I was... No Americans are walking up and saying, put me through to Norman Gunston, please. And he was talking about crowds.
Now, that was Jordan and the Bulls era. I get that. But, like, are you checking in under your own name in a hotel?
Yeah, I do. Some guys don't. We had a guy who used to check in as Peter Parker. We had a lot of guys. That's Spider-Man, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. We changed names. I never knew you couldn't do that.
You could change your name. He was checking in as Bruce Dool. It's all right for the big fella.
I'm seeing P. Parker and I'm like, we don't have one of them on our team. Finally, I figured out who it was. Yeah, but there's crowds and people are waiting. the hotels. There is.
Oh, yeah.
All types of hours of the night because a lot of them are like autograph people and they want things signed and photos and jerseys and things like that. They know where we... Because a lot of teams stay in the same hotels in each city, so they know what time we're getting in. I don't know how they know. They must get tipped off somehow. I don't know how they know, but yeah, they're waiting there.
4 a.m., 6 p.m., it doesn't matter. They'll be at the front of the hotel. So you're going well at OKC, right?
He is a big physical 6'8", and I think that that allows him... to make plays like this where he can just drive to the rim even with a big body like land on him and have no problem laying it up in it. As Giddey in an attack mode all night and once again uses the glass. Nice move. He's got 20 on the Minnesota. Giddey goes with the right hand, turns the corner and banks it home. How about this here?
