was on. Anyway, the runner comes out halfway through the last quarter and I've just kicked my 17th. And he said, mate, come off. I go, what? 17. What do you mean? There's about 8,000 people there. They're going nuts. I've kicked 17.
They're not coming to watch the blokes sitting
on the bench. I'm not here to sit on the bench. I said, there's half a quarter to go. And they said, no, no, no, Peter Hudson's record is 17 at this ground and they don't want you to break it and he's here watching. And I said, F that. I snapped one from the boundary line in front of all the crowd of about 40 out and I dribbled it through and I said, now I'm coming off. And I went and sat on the bench. And I told Pete Hartson that story and he laughed. Anyway, so I did break his record down in New Norfolk. It was pretty funny.
Well, it's my grandfather worked at the paper mill. That's why I know because we used
to go and
stay every summer, a
boy
would show up to New Norfolk. But you continued to play footy. Is there a
number of goals you've kicked? Well, I'll tell you something, Harry. I played 204 AFL games and now I've played 208 local footy games. So I'm now a local footy player.
And how many goals do you reckon you've kicked in the
tournament? I know exactly how many I've kicked.
How many? How many?
No, that's the reason I'm still playing, because I want to kick 1,000 local footy. What do you want? So I've got 11 to go, I think. I've kicked 989
goals. He just needs to shoot down in Norfolk.

I should have played in the 80s, let's be honest, because that was sort of like country footy. Yeah. And the best thing is that you go to a club that you don't know anyone, you rock up the night before or the day of, you meet all these dudes and they just love footy and I love footy and then you play the game, you do a sporty, you get on the piss with them, you have the best night and then you go home the next day.
