They keep changing what it's called, where I'm from. Uh, as always, Caitlin Green is in her new house, still no artwork behind her if you're watching on YouTube. And we also find ourselves sitting with the most fabulous, very talented, charismatic. Iconic uh blues guitarist and one a hell of a fucking singer. The man has sung on one of my records and played some guitar, and we're gonna talk about that because I you might not even remember it. Colin James is with us today. Let me tell you a little bit about Colin. This is what the World Wide Web is saying about you, Colin, that you are a legendary Canadian blues guitarist, singer, songwriter.
You're renowned for soulful music. Every single person in Canada can attest to that. You are one of the best guitar players I've ever heard in my life. You have a career that has spanned decades, which is a very, very difficult thing to do. We're living in times where people come, people go, they have a single that hits TikTok for six weeks and they sort of sink into the abyss again. But having a three or four decade-long career is something to celebrate. And now to add to everything else that he's doing far.
And Colin, this book stops when you start becoming. successful. So let's just start right there. What was it like switching gears and writing a memoir?
A learning curve, uh, to be sure. Uh you've you've written books. You know, music is a is a thing you've done all your life and um You know, I never had a huge burning desire to write books. I think it all stemmed from uh From you know, travelling in the in the in the vehicle, going to shows and Telling a story about something that happened to band members and they go, Oh my God, you know.
You should write that down.
You should write that down. And so it was just a process. I guess it took about three and a half to four years. You know, that flight from Toronto to Vancouver.
