Okay, Joe Shea Elaine Barker with us, and the New York Times has polled about five hundred people in Hollywood actors, directors, producers, showrunners, about the best television, the best series of the twenty first century. Now, controversially, the Sopranos was deemed ileligible because it debuted on HBO in the winter of nineteen. nineteen ninety nine and I think, Elaine Burke, that sort of undermines the list to a certain extent. I mean The Sopranos is an iconic twenty first century T V show.
Yeah, like I mean the first season aired nineteen ninety nine, but five more seasons followed after that and they were incredible. And that's the thing. If you ask someone to guess what was the number one TV show rated in this list, I'd say a lot of people's first guess would these be the Sopranos. So you have to take that out of your assumptions and that's not gonna be anywhere on this list. And I think people's next guess would be What's number one? My next guess would have been what's number two? And that would probably be one of my number one
Okay. Well let me do a top ten countdown on this. So this there's a hundred here and we get down to some of the lower ranked ones. Number ten, Atlanta. Number nine, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Number eight, Thirty Rock. Number seven VEEP. Number six Game of Thrones. Number five Fleabag. Number four Succession. Number three Mad Men. Number two The Wire. And number one, breaking bad. Um, well it's kinda funny because Breaking Bad it you could make the argument is not even the best Breaking Bad uh T V show that ever was made and that the best one is Better Called Saul. Which only came

I know it was it's i i I've watched a f I've watched half a season of it. I admire how well it was written, but there was just something about it that I couldn't get into it. I don't it was maybe too clever for me. I'm not a hundred percent sure. One thing that we take that so we

And Six Feet Under from the early noughties is a show that maybe not a lot of people saw. Michael C. Hall and Peter Kroos. uh a brilliant, brilliant drama about a family running uh uh undertakers. And I'd forgotten completely about that. So actually this list is really handy for kind of bring giving you some kind of prompters and what you should watch again.
