Today, we are going through our 2027 grid predictions. Now, you might remember back in April, we did this for the first time. So we're going to basically have a look for every team and see if there's anything that we would change or if we would keep the lineups the same as we predicted back then. And we'll go for every team from championship order. So starting with Mercedes going all the way down to Cadillac. Very interesting. We've also got some predictions from you lovely listeners as well. So we put out a form a couple of days ago and we've managed to put together a bit of an aggregate of what you've predicted to see how they shape up versus what we've got written down. So let's start with Mercedes.
It's an interesting contract situation. Technically, Antonelli, I believe, is still out of contract at the end of this year. Feels likely he'll probably still be there next year. Meanwhile, George Russell either has a contract until the end of this year or the end of next year, depending on who you're talking to. But as we know with F1, the contract, sometimes it's only as good as... It's a bit of paper with some words written down on it.
What were the original 2027 grid predictions and how have they held up so far?
It doesn't always mean it's ironclad. So we'll go around, the three of us, just to see who we've got and then we'll get into some discussion. So Sam, first of all, you said, different to the two of us, back in April, you said it would be Verstappen and Antonelli. Your prediction now is? Antonelli and Russell. Harry, your prediction was Antonelli and Russell back in April. Now you've got? Antonelli and Russell. Oh, Jesus. Well, that was my prediction as well, and I'm not changing, so... Good. We're going with the same old, same old at Mercedes. We'll start with you, Sam, as you're the one who's changed your prediction. At least part of your reasoning back then was, and we'd only had a few races at that point, obviously, was that Antonelli had already proven himself to be a match for George Russell, right?
So you don't think there's going to be a swap now? Are you saying that's more Verstappen-led rather than Mercedes-led?
Yeah, partially. I think the landscape has really changed for Max Verstappen over the last, what is it, four months, really, since we had that conversation initially. There's been conversations between McLaren and Verstappen's management.
