Good morning. Maria, take me back if we can, because from my reading the suggestion was this first came about or was first mooted uh about this time in twenty twenty four. Is that right?
Uh it was uh first talked of and and uh coming into uh well it was greenlit in in October twenty twenty four. So two years almost to the day.
So you're sitting in October twenty twenty four, you're thinking I could have my own show. This sounds good. How come everything takes so long?
That is a great question. Um, I think uh it's uh it's a matter of getting the the release schedules to align. It's a matter of of of course uh going through post production and and VFX and dubbing and all of the things that has to happen after the show is done. Uh uh and then just figuring out the right timing for the show to come out and and Amazon felt that, you know, the best time was to do it, you know, after the Reacher Four release, which I think um is a perfect setup for for Neely to branch out on her own after Reacher season four.
Why did the producers choose to release Neagley right after Reacher season 4?
Is it everything you thought it would be?
It is in a lot of ways. I mean, you never know how how these things things are gonna unfold and and whether it it works. But I do feel that for a first season of a spinoff, um, I I couldn't have asked for for better. I feel that the story that n the Nick's Nick Centora and Nick Bouden came up with was exactly correct for what this kind kind of spin off should be. So I'm I'm happy uh with what we came up with. I'm very proud of the show.
What about you, Grayson? You happy too?
I'm thrilled. Yeah. I you know it's Much like you know, Maria was saying, y when you go into these things uh You don't know if the the if it's all gonna come together. You know, it's hard to tell on the day. I mean, I knew we had chemistry, I knew the scenes looked dynamic, but When it all comes together after the post post production machine, you know, that's the true that's when you truly get to see it for what it is. And when I had a chance to watch it a few weeks ago, I was so incredibly proud of of everybody, all the hard work work we put in.
Does Neagley live up to Maria Sten’s expectations for a first‑season spin‑off?
Um I think it's such a dynamic show. I think people are gonna fall in love with our characters and it's just you know fantastic, uh fantastic television. Do
you reckon it's not television but Yeah, yeah, gotcha. Do you reckon it's stand d does it stand on its own? Do I need to go through Reacher to get to you, or can I come to you all by itself?
Yeah, that is what's interesting about our show. Um, you you, if you knew nothing about Reacher, you could watch Neely and and have a great experience and go on a great roller coaster ride. Um, so I think it's it's it's exciting because people who might not be watching Reacher will maybe come to Neely for other reasons and then find their way to Reacher through Neely. And of course, the people who know and love Reacher. Sure. I'm gonna get all the things that they love about Reacher, but but this is Neely's world and therefore the tone is Neely, not Reacher. And and really um and we dive into this different kind of language for for the show that that feels unique to itself.
I tell you what, uh the good news is it's uh currently globally trending number one too. Now m Maria, when you started on Reacher, right? So season one, go back to Reacher, when you started, could you conceive uh that the character would Sunday could be possibly, you know, spun off?
You know, they they told me that when I f actually booked the job. They told me that in success, that what's a possibility that maybe one day this is a thing that could happen. And I thought, yeah, that's great. You know, that is not a reality.
