Permission for Dublin's tallest building was refused by the city council last week. Some of the reasons given were that it would detract from the character of the nearby custom house and would have a significant and detrimental visual impact on the River Liffey Conservation Area and important views and vistas. But where to next for Dublin? With an ever-growing population does the capital need to grow up, grow out or utilize the derelict buildings that are already present, and what will ultimately make Dublin an attractive city for those who reside there? To discuss Pat was joined today by Conor Skehan Sunday Independent Columnist and Orla Hegarty Architect and Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy at UCD.
