Intrepreneurship vs Entrepreneurship | Road to Revenue #79

The main difference between an Entrepreneur and an Intrapreneur is that an Intrapreneur is an employee, and an Entrepreneur is the founder who designs, launches, and manages a new business, which almost always starts out as a small business. Entrepreneurs risk everything when they start. Intrapreneurs normally have corporate career risks (Salary, Expenses, Benefits, Equity) that arise from launching their business, but they often have many more resources at their disposal. Being an intrapreneur provides you with the opportunity to see if entrepreneurship is the right fit for you without the risks of leaving your job, investing your own money, and starting from the ground up. You can test the waters with a safety net, while having access to more resources and a larger platform afforded by the company that you are with. Intrapreneurs used to be employees of a company who are assigned to work on a special idea or project. They were given the time and freedom to develop the project as an entrepreneur would. Now, intrapreneurs are individuals who are finding new ways to generate growth with the vast number of tools they have available, due to their company’s platform.
