Chapter 1: What happened to T.J. Watt and how serious is his injury?
So, the T.J. Watt story, Bob, it's a tough one to sort of elaborate much on, other than we hope that T.J. Watt's okay. And I'll read it again. Burt Lawton, Steelers spokesman, put out a statement within the past half hour or so. T.J. Watt is currently in a local hospital for further medical evaluation of his lung after experiencing discomfort at the practice facility on Wednesday.
He will not be at practice today, and his status for Monday night's game versus Miami is in question. Coach Tom will provide more updates at an appropriate time. Then we see a tweet from Adam Schefter, which was worded in such a way that makes you think of what is happening here. Go ahead. So Schefter said, sources, TJ Watt's lung injury occurred during treatment at the team's facility Wednesday.
Watt has been hospitalized since then. So that sounds like he got injured. I don't know.
Chapter 2: What updates are available regarding T.J. Watt's condition?
During treatment. During a treatment. Is that possible? I guess. I always thought that something might have triggered this and they were looking at it. I don't know. That's the thing. And I have to be very careful here, but I'm thinking of things like Tyrod Taylor had the lung issue. way back when, when he had cracked ribs. Remember that?
And the Chargers gave him a pain-killing injection that wound up puncturing a lung. Do you remember that situation, Bob? Yeah, I do. But who knows what's happening here? I have no idea, but that's a very curious tweet, is it not?
Chapter 3: Why is the upcoming game against Miami significant for the Steelers?
It is, and it's better never to speculate on stuff like this. Yeah, and I won't. I won't speculate on it. You just hope he's okay, and even if he has to miss a game or so, that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. It's about health. It always is. Yeah. I just found the Schefter tweet. I mean, you read that and you can't help but think of things. That's all. So, yes, best to TJ Watt.
That's the important thing right now at this moment. And we'll keep coming back to that. If we see any updates or anything else from the Steelers, we'll do that here on Pomp and Joe. Fan Twitter brought to you by South Hills Kia Peters Township.

I mean, it's Thursday and we've barely talked about a game that I think because it's big for Miami. So when you look at it with a wider lens, this is a bigger game than I think most people would have anticipated even a few weeks ago because suddenly Miami is in the playoff picture, right? Yes, they are, and if they win, they're going to jump right into smack dab the middle with three games left.
They'll be 7-7, and that is good enough to put you right in the middle of it. Are you in any way a believer in Miami? I'll say this. I'm shocked that they're here. I don't care what their schedule is. I thought their coach would be fired. I thought they'd be losing games by blowout scores. They would quit, that it was all falling apart.
Chapter 5: How has Tua Tagovailoa performed in cold weather games?
And even if all they've done in this win streak, well, I mean, they began the win streak by crushing the Bills. But if all they've done since then is beat the Commanders, Saints, and Jets, okay, I get that. People aren't overly impressed. But it's not what I thought would happen to them when they were sitting there at 1-6. In fact, I was shocked that the coach was still there then.
Well, listen, they were sellers at the trade deadline, Joe. That's all you need to know. They were sellers. And now all of a sudden, what's happened? They've won four in a row. And five of six. Five of six. So what they've done is they went from two and seven, I think it was, to where they are at six and seven now.
And if they win this Monday, they're going to put themselves right in the middle of everything. because everything is jambled up with these teams.
Chapter 6: What are the expectations for Cam Heyward this season?
I don't know how their tiebreakers work, but they have a lot of momentum on their side, so this will not be easy given the way they have played of late, which is sound defense and running the ball very efficiently. Now, Tua won a cold weather game for the first time this year as the Dolphins beat the Jets this last game, really. But in general, Bob, he's been absolutely horrific in cold water.
Isn't there a number out there with Tua and cold weather? but I mean, there it is. Here it is from Joe shad dolphins to a stat 40 degrees or colder loss at Buffalo loss at Tennessee loss at Buffalo loss at Kansas city loss at green Bay. That's Oh, and five with the Steeler game pending. And it's supposed to be his second coldest game ever. I think that's significant. You don't know.
I do, but I also think it's true for everyone. Um, No, it's not. Just because they're in Miami. I know they don't get a chance, but over the course of every football player's career, I guarantee you at some point they've played in weather that's not been very good.
Chapter 7: How is Joey Porter Jr. performing in his rookie season?
That's been cold. That's been windy. That's been rainy. They've all gone through it. So to me, it's just an even situation. Yeah, you can think of it as an advantage if you want. I think all of these guys have experienced it at some level. And honestly, have the Steelers played in bad weather yet this year, other than a windy game? Has it been that way? No.
I don't know, but you're looking at a guy whose job it is to throw the ball, and he stinks whenever it's cold out. He stinks whenever it's sunny out, too. He's thrown 14 interceptions this year. So it doesn't matter. It could be 80 degrees.
Chapter 8: What are the prospects for Calvin Austin III and Keanu Benton moving forward?
Go look at how many interceptions have occurred on 80 degrees or more. I guarantee you it'll be, well, he can't throw the ball in 80 degrees. No, his numbers are wildly different, Bob. It's really bad, Bob. And hopefully Mike McDaniel doesn't see this on Monday. Yeah, he's going to take the snaps this week, and he's going to be our starter this week.
And my expectation is that we don't throw 10 picks. 10 picks, Bob. Let me ask you about a couple of Steeler players, Bob, and O Limitless Wonder. Are you ready? Some guys that we don't get a chance to talk to about a lot. We never get a chance to talk to, but about. What do you think of Joey Porter Jr. at this point in his career, Bob? I think he's come on.
I think if you think about it, he hasn't really given up a lot of touchdowns in his position, which is a position to be burned. I think his biggest thing is just the reputation he has about being too handsy, and that reputation sometimes results in calls that maybe with somebody else it wouldn't, but that's the reputation he has had.
He's a guy who sticks to his receiver largely, and when he does, he's a little bit too sticky to his receiver, and I think he gets caught because of it, so... And let's be honest about the other day. He basically got beaten on an inside round. But he made a great play to stick with it. That's the other side of it, yes. And he also was called for two penalties in that game.
I just happen to think that he's come on a little bit because earlier in this season, I thought he was trending back toward almost bust territory. And now he looks very viable. Overall, since he was almost a number one pick, first of the second, I think he's been underwhelming that way. I would have expected more bigger plays from him. I agree with that. I do.
He's been up and down and really hasn't taken the huge step forward you would want. I just think he's gotten better than he was at the beginning of this season himself. You agree? Yeah. Cam Hayward. Some people think he's having a great year. Some people would say good, and some people would say lesser than that. What says Bob?
Well, my expectations of Cam are always to be somebody who can be disruptive in the middle. His sack totals, I don't necessarily look at him as a sack man, although his numbers have suggested that he does get to the quarterback without maybe the help of other outside edge rushers. So, I think he's been OK. I don't think it's been his best year.
I think the last two years were really, really outstanding. So maybe the expectations are a little higher, but he's getting older. And so, you know, father time normally has an undefeated record. I actually think he's been pretty darn good. He doesn't have last year at eight sacks this year down to one and a half. But I'm with you. It's not all about sacks with him.
And I think he gets a lot of attention on that defensive line. And every like analytic person that I trust says he's been outstanding. And then the eye test tells me he is disruptive defensively. Right? I mean, he was right to the final play the other day in Baltimore. Disruptive can also mean swatting a pass in the air that could be intercepted. He's done that on numerous times.
