The word you start looking at some of the stuff he has there. Uh, Tyler, I want to ask you about some things that are buzzing around the NHL. Number one, we know what happened with Malkin and the five-game suspension. Quite frankly, you can't be that reckless with your stick and expect to get away with it. I thought five was a little steep. I was expecting three. But then we saw Joe's favorite player, Rasmus Dahlin, who is a very good cross-checker. He knows how to get under your skin. But the response by Brandon Hagel the other night in that game that was 8-7 was, is that he basically chased him, punched him, sucker punched him, whatever he could do, jumped on top of him, and he got a $5,000 fine. Right, wrong?
Completely wrong. Like, if he would have hit him in the back of the head and concussed Darlene and he fell. Why does it take an injury for the penalty to be more? Well, I'm trying to justify it. What if Malkin got it in the guy's eye? Well, I think it's like a split-second reaction, but that's why I think it's not right because that's the closest I've seen to Todd Pertuzzi jumping one of the brothers. Yeah. More? More, yeah. And the only thing different was Darlene didn't fall. He kind of stood there and got punched and kind of fell, you know?

How he got five games is... Absolutely shocking to me. I don't get that. I don't get some of these calls. The reason I think they give Geno five games is because he's a repeat offender. He does have a history of... the wires crossing and he does something stupid, right? Obviously it wasn't a smart move, but that Darlene, like I think he's drove three guys, you know, he's cost a lot of guys, a lot of money the last couple of weeks. Cause when he does those little cross check, what he's good at is finding that little space in between your shoulder pad in, in your pants where it hurts a lot. But like, if you're going to cross check someone like you got to stick up for yourself. Like, they're coming back.
Like, if you cross Gino like you did, like, Gino's coming back at you. Like, it seems like even with Hagel, He'd give it to Hagel, and then he kind of turned away. It's like, dude, you can't hit someone and then run away. They're coming. I think that Darlene's a great defenseman, but just watching me drives me nuts because of the little cross check, and then he kind of like, not turtles, but the closest thing to it. He's getting out of your skin. Like you said, you had a board with those players. This is who you could go after because they're soft. Right. Darlene obviously decides he's going after somebody and wants to get under your skin, whether or not you're soft or not, he's going to try to do it.
And if you agree to it, you're going to normally be penalized or worse. Yeah. You got to just stay away from it. I know it's hard to do, but. But like, I think he learned his lesson with Hagel because Hagel got about four, four heavy punches to the back of Darlene's head, you know, but yeah. I'm wondering how they justify five grand. Because I think if that's Geno, you're talking 10 games. The way they're going on him, I think George Piros doesn't know what he's doing in that office. He's the guy who's doling out these suspensions. And there's got to be more than just one guy, one former player. I think it's great that there's a former player.
