It's a great trade for Pittsburgh. It's a total no-brainer. I think in a vacuum, I would maybe rather have Stu Skinner than Tristan Jari, honestly. They're really, really similar. I think you could pretty credibly just call Jari the Eastern Conference version of Stu Skinner. So I'm not 100% sold on them downgrading there just in a strip cocky dense. Second round pick's great. Brett Kulak is a defenseman who I can imagine them flipping at some point too for at least something else. You get out from under the rest of Jari's contract. It's a pretty easy slam dunk for Dubas there. And Sean, I feel like this trade means even more for the young goaltenders here. It doesn't really mean that much about Stuart Skinner who has an expiring deal.
It means more about the guys that were behind Jari. Absolutely, absolutely. This is about Misharov, and it's about Silov, and it's about getting those guys a larger portion of the net. Absolutely. We all know how volatile that tradition is. I don't think anybody knows which of the four goalies that we're talking about is going to be better for the rest of the season. Skinner, bad as he's been in the playoffs, and as bad as he was at points, earlier in the year, he's put up a 937 save percentage in his last five starts. So he's playing, he's playing pretty well. And he at least gives you an option, you know, if, if, and if they stay in the race and if they want to keep doing, you know, some kind of timeshare with the other two younger guys, I think he's completely a viable guy to, to, to mix in.
And then you factor in, Donnie, like you said, you have no financial commitment to him beyond this season. It's a total, total, total no-brainer. Wait a second here. Doesn't this just clear the track for Miroshov, whose name, by the way, I've now been heard pronounced at least 17 different ways. Doesn't this just clear the track for him to play most of the games? That's what I'm thinking, Sean, or at least what I thought. Yeah. It does, but say he's been incredible. He's leading the NHL in save percentage, and they love him, and we all know that. But if something happens, and maybe he can't handle, let's say, 42 starts down the stretch or whatever, I think Skinner's totally viable as a backup goalie on a half-decent team.
