The Pomp And Joe Show

Six pack of Steelers questions before Steelers-Dolphins

15 Dec 2025

Transcription

Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?

0.031 - 23.58

Limits, I think we're filming a commercial here, and it seems to me that Crowley wants to steal all the key shots. Oh, really? Have you noticed that? Yes, I think I did. Crowley had his hat on backwards so that they get a shot of the fan hat from behind the scenes here. I'm the last person that anybody wants to see on the commercial. I'm getting that feeling as well.

Joe, I'm getting a bad feeling that neither me, Callis, or Donnie will be featured in the commercial. I wasn't even on the tape they sent to the Marconis. And Harry Callas was, for God's sakes. Yeah. Maybe it should be Callas and Pomp. I don't think Callas received any commercial shoot time. Oh, yes, he did. He snuck in. And if he didn't, he'll sneak it in just like he did for the Marconis.

45.915 - 58.848

Remember that? So when should I sneak in there to be able to get some commercial shoot time, Bob? You should. When should I sneak in there? I can't believe it. I missed all of that. What did you say? Bob, next commercial break, I'm going to go sit there at the little seat over there. Bob, are you on here? And I'm going to try to be on.

59.268 - 77.569

I turned that down because they— And then you left right when the segment came back. What did you say again? The long and short of it is they're shooting a commercial, Crowley's hogging the spotlight, and they want you more than me. Not true. All true. Not true. Not true. We will be a blip, I bet. Yeah. Are they coming in for the PM show? I'll forget that. They're coming in early.

77.629 - 97.196

That's going to be the whole thing. That'll be the whole commercial. Bob, I'm going to come sit right next to you and try to get like a second of airtime. And people can look and say, whoa, there's limits on TV. Bob could dress up like Santa and you could sit on his lap and give him your Christmas wishes. Limits. Do you think I'm being selfish in saying that, Joe? Yes. I do too. But I don't care.

97.356 - 114.658

I want to be in the commercial. I'm surprised you haven't walked in here already. I know. I thought about it, but you guys were already talking. I know you thought about it. And Craig was in here all the time walking around stealing poinsettias. I just want to be on there for like a half second. Well, you should be. Can you operate those keyboards from here? No. I think he can, yes.

115.079 - 139.219

And I think he should. Bob, let's talk a little six-pack here. A six-pack of Steelers questions heading into this game. Limits, if you'd be so kind. What do we think of Jalen Warren? It... We all love him. Don't get me wrong there. He makes big plays and has made some of the biggest of the season. But I'm talking as a feature back. A feature back, Bob.

139.64 - 168.041

And it's clear to me that the Steelers really don't want him and don't think he is that. Is that not clear to you? He's never cracked 20 carries this season. He's had 18 on a couple of different occasions. In the last two games, he has 18 combined, 10 and 8. And he only has two games where he's gotten more than... Really one game, now that I look at it, where he's gotten more than 90 yards.

168.421 - 193.624

Two games where he's gotten 70 even. He was great in Cincinnati, 16 for 127, and then against the Chargers, 14 for 70. Kenneth Gainwell has two games over 90 yards. Warren has one. So my question for you is... And I guess that's why they drafted Caleb Johnson, too. It seems pretty clear they don't see Jalen Warren as a bell cow. Is that right, Bob?

Chapter 2: Is Jalen Warren considered a feature back for the Steelers?

319.564 - 339.509

And some days they start like that, and then they get away from it rather quickly. So, you know, we'll see tonight. I think tonight's a perfect night to get Jalen Warren a lot of carries and sort of ride him. To me, he looks like one of those guys who would embrace that, especially in this weather, run hard, make pain felt by a defensive back who tries to tackle him, all this sort of thing.

0

339.549 - 359.359

I would do that. Maybe. I'm not sure, honestly, at this point that I really believe in him as a one back. He looks to me like the perfect third down back. And they brought in a guy to be the third down back who's also very good at it. It's like their problem is they have really good third down backs, but they have two of them and no lead back.

0

359.619 - 376.421

That seems to me to be the problem and precisely why they drafted Caleb Johnson. Am I on to something here, Mr. P.? Well, you should be, and Caleb Johnson might appear on your sheet for the weather in a moment, just so you know. But yeah, you would think that Caleb Johnson would be able to fight his way out of the doghouse by now, right?

0

376.822 - 389.357

Compared to what happened early in the season, and I know that that leaves a bad taste in your mouth from the kickoff. But is he just not showing anything in practice? I feel like there's no even...

0

390.164 - 414.315

feeling of well we need to get caleb johnson out there we need to at least see what he has they do like out of the blue for like one carry yeah it's just one carry then you don't see him again again that's hard running backs have to get going a little bit and i think offensive line also if you're not going to run that much it's it's hard for them to get into a flow of what they want to do from you know a block first mentality next question wonder twin

417.012 - 443.888

Thank you. Bob, have we gone a little far with the whole Adam Thielen, Marquez, Valdez, Scantling are delivering the professionalism that the Steelers have sorely lacked? I'd prefer that both start catching passes myself. I get it. They upped the ante in practice, I guess. And maybe in games, I don't know. What are they saying in games?

444.369 - 465.414

That because they run their routes correctly, it opens things up for other people, that it makes the whole scheme go? I don't even know. I just think we've gone a little bit far with their impact here. Well, I think that's Aaron Rodgers speaking up for guys that he used to play with and guys he really likes. And that's what this is. And he made that comment about professionalism.

465.474 - 483.182

I understood what he meant. Then he quickly said that doesn't mean I think the guys aren't professional. But he was also stating a little bit of a message there. But you're right. It's one thing to come in as a veteran, as a guy who has experience, and help a practice. It's totally another to get involved in games. And they need to start making plays in games.

483.162 - 503.314

to have a bigger impact, not just by being there in practice and setting a practice tone. Who's going to have the bigger impact in games, do you believe? I think it's going to be Thielen. So do I. I think there's a chance there for him to be a sort of security blanket for Rodgers. Just that little, you know, third and four.
