Chapter 1: What insights do the Chiefs rookies share about their draft experience?
Hi, Justin Mahoney here, president of First Business Bank's Kansas City region. With all the bank mergers lately, banking can feel uncertain. But rest assured, First Business Bank remains Kansas City's premier commercial bank. First Business Bank, member FDIC.
You are listening live to the program. Your teams, your town, your program. That's going to get through. That's going to go to the wall. That'll score two. And the A's lead 4-2. Grounded the other way. Moving over Lofton Gloves. Throws to first. Perez can't handle it. Kurtz comes home to score. And the A's play another run. Driven to center field. Gelof is there.
And the A's win 6-3, claiming the series against Kansas City.
And now, a man with a big decision to make, steak or chicken, Seren Petro.
Right you are, Kay. Right you are. Petro on the program on Sports Radio 810 WHB as we are on the road at one of our favorite places.
Would you agree? Absolutely. The Mount Rushmore of places. This has got to be one of the heads.
By the way, Easton is going to film us right now and put it on social media. Of course, I still have my taco salad that I was enjoying. Right out of time. I meant to get here earlier to make sure I could finish it, but no one's taking it. Don't touch it, because I'm finishing it.
You will soon see me inhaling some of those tacos.
Oh, really? Okay.

Chapter 2: How does Paul Carr explain the role of analytics in sports?
I don't know.
How many are you going to go for, Curtis?
At least four.
Okay.
The incredible tacos, great fajitas. This is one of our favorite times of year because we know we're going to be coming up here to Rancho Grande. Three great locations around the metro. Parkville, you can come by where we are. That's where our location is. You want to GPS it. It's 11-0-1-5, Missouri Highway 45, I think is the technical name, basically. We're basically on 45 Highway.
We're in between, what, 29 and the National?
Oh, I see.
Well, where the National Entrance is.
Oh, yeah, right, right, right, yeah. Good call.

Chapter 3: What challenges does Sporting Kansas City face in utilizing data for improvement?
Blue Springs has got Caitlin Rushing. So live music going on at all three locations on Cinco de Mayo. Plus you can get the Coronas, Coronalites, Corona Premieres. All for $3.50. All the Corona beers are just $3.50 a bottle. $3.50. $3.50. Fitty. Plus, buy one, get one on all hard-shell beef tacos, and they're going to be doing giveaways after 4 o'clock.
So when it comes to Cinco de Mayo, Rancho Grande has you covered. Liberty, 921 Liberty Drive in Belton. Liberty Drive B. Yeah. Liberty Drive B. Is B theā B is sometimesā It's 921 Liberty. I think it'll get you there. But what is the B?
Is B the suite number?
Yes.
Okay. Yeah, it's the unit number.
We have broadcast there. And in Blue Springs, 501 Northwest Jefferson Street. That is basically the northeast corner. I kind of like it. It's east of this on the outer road. Jefferson's the outer road there. But kind of like the northeast corner of 7 and 70.
Yes.
Or 70 and 7 if you do. And we'll be over there on Monday. Come on out today and enjoy some great Mexican food. Don't forget they cater graduations, birthdays, weddings, whatever it is. Don't forget about mom on Mother's Day. Does mom like tacos? My mom loves tacos. Yes. So get mom some tacos. Get her out. Rancho Grande will be ready for Mother's Day.
Every Saturday, they've got the half-price apps. Great time this Saturday. The Derby will be on. They've got TVs everywhere at all the Rancho Grandes, so you want to watch the Derby. Remember, you can bet the ponies on your apps now. Oh, that's right. So get out, have some tacos.

Chapter 4: How has the landscape of soccer analytics evolved over the years?
You know, you can't lose when you bet on sports. Did you know that? You cannot lose. It's called Everybody Wins Betting. Has it been around long enough that everyone's figured that out? You can't lose. I think so.
I don't think we know that quite to be true, but it is in my world. You can't win if you don't play.
You can lose. Let me be clear. You can lose betting on the sports. But if you know the horses, even if you don't, if there's a time to throw a couple of bucks here and there, this would be it. Come on out and have some great Mexican food. You can enjoy the Kentucky Derby. Like I said, half-price apps, 11 to 4. That's a great time. They always have Royals, NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs.
We got the Diamondbacks and Cubs on. Got a Cubs fan here for various reasons. He wanted to know, where are the Cubs? Find me the Cubs. We found him the Cubs. He's a thumbs up. He was all over us, too.
He was like, come on. A pitcher of suds, and he's enjoying his team.
Actually, a friend of the program that we know. So, happy that the Cubs are on. But, yes, Cinco de Mayo, you're all set. We have some 8-10 koozies. If the kids want some ā What are they called? Pom-poms? Mm-hmm. You got some red and gold pom-poms. You can come out and grab some of those and get some great, great Mexican food. We will be here all the way up until 6 o'clock.
They've been here for years. They'll be here for years to come. You want to know why? Why? Because people love great Mexican food. Oh, yeah. Right?

Chapter 5: What are the differences in data availability between soccer and baseball?
They love great service, and they love great people. Yeah. And you get all of that at Rancho Grande.
It's not only is it really good, and this is an understated or under, I think, valued thing. asset for a restaurant, and this place certainly has it. It's consistent. Every time you come, it's exact. We're going to go up and get some tacos. You know exactly. Perfect. It's the exact same way. Some places, you hit miss. This place hits every time.
I mentioned this is one of our favorite stops. We land at the airport, and it's a lunch or dinner time. We love to swing over here on our way home. So I get over here even beyond when we come up here for the show, for Cinco de Mayo. But it's one of my great spots. So even if you live in the Southland... Like I do, if you're coming back from the airport, hit it on your way back from the airport.
You will be glad you did. Yes. Period. End of discussion. No question. We've got a lot coming your way today. Paul Carr is going to be with us. Paul Carr is a senior director for True Media. Used to work for ESPN. He's basically in their, like, stats and info wing. You know, he's the guy that would come up for, you know, you watch sports and they're like, only four guys in the last 40 years of...
You know, had four home runs in two days. He was the guy that would do all that. Info tech guy. He's from Topeka, Kansas. Nice. Local guy. And now is a senior director for True Media. And what they do is basically sports analytics. He's going to be one of the guest speakers at the Linda Hall Library going on on Thursday. So that talk is coming up tomorrow. Yeah, this Thursday.
I was going to say not a week. This Thursday, the 7th. It doesn't cost anything to get into that.

Chapter 6: How can analytics help the U.S. men's soccer team close the gap internationally?
If you get your tickets before May 4th, you can win the VIP experience, which is sitting up front. It's the hors d'oeuvres and cocktails for free in a great area at the Linda Hall Library. It is just an awesome time. And he's going to be one of the speakers talking about analytics and soccer. He does baseball, football, and soccer. He has covered like three World Cups.
And we're going to talk about how does Sporting Kansas City turn around? How can analytics help Sporting Kansas City turn around? How can analytics help USA Soccer win a World Cup?
Yeah.
So looking forward to that. And you can hear a lot, lot more from him, like I said, at the great conversation that's coming up. One of the keynote speakers at the Linda Hall Library. Just go to lindahall.org to get your tickets. Again, they don't cost anything, but once they're gone, they're gone. And no one can win the VIP experience unless you've got your tickets before May 4th.
The event is May 7th, Thursday, but before May 4th. So get them right now.
And that's something that I think, one, your talk with him later today and the event is something that regardless of your interest level or understanding level of soccer, it's beneficial because if you love it, you're going to brighten your wheelhouse.
And if you're kind of trying to get into the sport and you've kind of started and you need to know more about it, you're going to learn a lot more about it. Whoever goes to that thing is going to walk away from it with a new appreciation for that sport and how it's done and You'll be able to kind of brag to your friends.
Next time you're sitting there watching a World Cup game or you're watching a local game and you go, you know... This analytics thing I saw, they do this, this, and that, and this, and that's how they determine that. Oh, cool. So you can impress your friends with your newfound soccer knowledge. So I can't wait for Thursday.
Yeah, I can't either. It's going to be great. They always do a great job. Looking forward to talking to Paul Carr here as well. And we'll do that here coming up a little bit later this hour. Also coming your way today, Danny Unleashed in the 3 o'clock hour, brought to you by our great friends at Easton Roofing. Find them online at eastonroofing.com.

Chapter 7: What role does data play in scouting and player recruitment for soccer?
Well, I'm happy because he's had a couple of times where his travel schedule is just ridiculous and we couldn't get him on. But, Kevin, he says he will be with us. He's the voice of America.
I believe him. America's a big country. I mean, he has a lot of stuff he's got to do. Well, and he flies a lot of places. Mm-hmm. You know, he makes the guy up in the air. He makes the ā I can't think of the actors now.
He is George Clooney.
Yeah, the George Clooney character. He makes him look like an amateur.
Can you make a note of that there, Kyle? I knew the name. Yes. Curtis Struggling.
I've marked it. I know his character's name is Ryan Bingham. I couldn't think of his actual name.
Yeah.
It's happening more and more, isn't it?
Yeah, that would be great.

Chapter 8: How does the episode conclude with a reflection on the future of soccer analytics?
Because if there's one guy I want to hear from, it's Cyrus Allen.
I know. So thanks. Way to blow it, Kay. I appreciate you letting me down like that. That was just the order in which they arrived, the two LSU guys first.
Okay. Okay.
Their first and last pick.
Yes. Let's talk a little bit about multiple coverages with Mansoor Delane, the sixth overall pick in this draft. The Chiefs using 974 and 148 to get up to six and take him. So they've got a lot of capital invested. The guy better be good. Yes. Mansoor Delane was asked if playing multiple coverages at LSU is going to help him in the NFL.
Coach Baker's defense, it was multiple defense. I got to do everything. I think that ultimately led me to be the position I am right now. Similar to Spag's defense, we play everything. A lot of NFL defenses, they may do one type of thing, but we play every type of coverage.
Did you immediately recognize when you got drafted by the Chiefs that Spag is a guy that does a lot of press. Was that something that was on your mind pretty quickly?
Oh, for sure. You know, a lot of the DBs that come here, they don't stay for long. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It just means, you know, they're getting developed and, you know, they're getting put in the best position. So I'm just looking forward to be the next one. Hopefully I stay. On that, the Chiefs have kind of floated that they want you to be inside, outside, do a little in college.
I guess how comfortable do you feel like you are covering the slot? Yeah, I can just do whatever the team needs me. You know, whatever Coach Spaggs needs me, I'm willing to, you know, try to be the best at it.
