26 May 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What are the highlights of the Royals' recent games?

0.706 - 37.857 Todd Leabo

Hosting for the soccer matches? Well, do it right. McGregor's Butcher Shop has house-cut steaks, fresh deli sandwiches, and everything you need for a table worth gathering around. McGregor's Butcher Shop in Overland Park. You are listening live to the program. Your teams, your town, your program. Line drive, base hit, left field. Scoring is Schumann. Here comes Jazz. He's flying around.

37.877 - 47.59 Todd Leabo

There's a play at the plate. It's cut off. Throw to second, and they're going to get Volpe. But Volpe gets the job done with a two-run single, and the Yankees have taken the lead. Going on, bouncing ball left side.

Chapter 2: How is UCM Baseball preparing for the DII World Series?

47.61 - 52.798 Todd Leabo

Caballero charges, gloves, throws on a run. Got him! Victory for the New York Yankees.

0

53.158 - 56.523 Matt Quattrero

I think I shall now be sick. Pencil.

0

56.543 - 64.392 Todd Leabo

Pencil. Mitchell on the paint strip.

0

64.552 - 84.595 Unknown

He turns it over. Alvarado running. Stops at the three-point line and fires. In and out. But Towns with the follow jam. It's 50-26. This is starting to become an embarrassing effort by the Cleveland Cavaliers, to be quite honest. For the first time since 1999, the Knicks are in the NBA Finals.

0

Chapter 3: What challenges did UCM face before qualifying for the tournament?

86.178 - 94.669 Unknown

And now, a man flashing back to where he was in 1999, Todd Lebo. Right you are, K.

0

95.78 - 120.893 Todd Leabo

I was not right here. This building didn't exist in 1999. I was doing a job at this radio station, but it wasn't this radio station. I was not a full-time radio employee. Yeah, we didn't buy Sports Radio 810 until October of 99. There you go. So this was, you know what, about this time of year, we were a couple weeks removed from the walkout.

0

120.873 - 144.046 Todd Leabo

and share the wealth and all that stuff we did with a New York team called the Yankees came to town, which just happened here yesterday as well. It all comes full circle. They're still here. Yeah, and we were... Yeah, you know what? What I might have been doing about this time was calling John Tate's agents, finding out why I hadn't signed yet.

0

Chapter 4: How has the transfer portal impacted D2 baseball programs?

144.126 - 146.349 Todd Leabo

Because back then, it was that same year. It's a long time ago.

0

146.369 - 147.03 Unknown

Is this Engledork?

0

148.131 - 148.232 Todd Leabo

Yeah.

0

148.272 - 153.179 Unknown

No, 99, he wasn't that. Ethan Locke. Ethan Locke. That was during Gunn.

0

153.399 - 169.965 Todd Leabo

That was Gunther. 99 was that draft, and he had been drafted, but he hadn't signed yet. And there was no real concern yet. But a little bit later in the summer, he's like, why didn't this guy sign? Now these guys, you agree to them. But yeah, 99, I saw the big list of things that didn't exist, like iPhones and all social media.

169.985 - 173.791 Unknown

I'm going to go back and look at the newspaper, the KC Times.

Chapter 5: What strategies does UCM use to maintain a competitive edge?

174.552 - 179.819 Unknown

No, I guess it would be the KC Star. Star, yeah. And see... What else was going on?

0

180.421 - 200.91 Todd Leabo

My daughter's birthday is the 15th, and she was born in 99. So when the finals started... She was not here. She didn't exist. When they went to the finals, she didn't. How long did that finals go? She was alive. So maybe, probably wasn't alive during that. Because normally it kind of has to make it to like Father's Day, right?

0

200.95 - 205.716 Unknown

I'm pretty sure they made quick work of an eight seed Knicks team.

0

207.038 - 208.46 Todd Leabo

They went five games.

0

Chapter 6: How does UCM's coaching staff handle player development?

208.66 - 210.162 Todd Leabo

I think it was five. Gentleman's sweep.

0

210.445 - 234.428 Todd Leabo

they call that let's see game one oh no it went a while like game one was the 16th it started late oh that strike that's right yeah they only played 50 games yeah so so they pushed it and they pushed everything back to get those 50 games in there you go my daughter was born the day before the nba finals started right but she wasn't there when the knicks got to the nba finals no she wasn't there you go so that's that was what was going on in my life

0

234.408 - 240.114 Todd Leabo

Holy smokes. Yeah, that was the weird year. It was a short season. The thing didn't get over until June 25th.

0

240.134 - 249.044 Unknown

Yep, Latrell Sprewell. This year, Game 7 will be the 19th if it goes to 7. Which is right before Father's Day. Yeah.

0

249.064 - 254.87 Todd Leabo

I think, yeah. I looked this up last night. Yeah, that's crazy. Hey, listen, congratulations, Knicks.

Chapter 7: What are the expectations for UCM in the upcoming World Series?

255.11 - 272.419 Todd Leabo

Congratulations, Pete Tweeney. Now, here's the deal, Pete. You've got to get to a finals game. It doesn't matter if it's San Antonio or Oklahoma City. That's easy. If it's Oklahoma City, just drive. If it's San Antonio, get on a flight. And you were a little boy when the team made the finals in 99.

0

272.439 - 279.522 Unknown

You have no excuses. You'll have at least... Two opportunities to see him on the road. Yeah. And probably more than that.

0

279.782 - 282.385 Todd Leabo

You just got to go, Pete. Got to go, man.

0

Chapter 8: What unique qualities does Coach Crooks bring to the team?

282.505 - 286.29 Todd Leabo

He was sweeping the floor out at a bar last night. He sent me a video. He had a broom.

0

286.69 - 310.701 Unknown

Oh, nice. All right, Pete. I've long been a fan. I've been someone who's always wanted the Knicks to get back there. I started liking them initially because I couldn't stand the Bulls, and that was a team that had the opportunity. And through that, I began to really – like that squad and I've been wanting them to get back. And now they're back, and they are a house right now.

0

310.742 - 311.943 Unknown

They are a force of nature.

0

312.303 - 336.994 Todd Leabo

Yeah. It's weird. You watch a series, and it's hard to think a team just lost a series in game one, but I think Cleveland, blowing that lead, they were just toast since then. They don't have enough, and you might have just felt different. They were so deflated that they lost that lead, and they haven't gotten off of the mat and even really kind of put up a fight for any length of time.

0

336.974 - 359.155 Unknown

Here's a couple of fun stats I have looked up last night. Best point differentials ever over an 11-game stretch within the same NBA playoffs. The second highest is 190 by the 2017 Warriors. The Knicks in their 11-game stretch plus 261. And that was with an overtime game.

359.595 - 362.519 Todd Leabo

That was with an overtime game, yes. They still won that by like 10 or 11 points, though.

362.719 - 390.37 Unknown

But that's 71, 261 to 190. Best point differentials over an entire postseason. The second highest is the 2017 Warriors, plus 230. Knicks right now are plus 271. That means if they get swept in the NBA Finals by an average of 10 points per game, they will still have the best point differential ever in a postseason. Wow. And they are plus 262.

390.35 - 417.133 Unknown

in their last, I think, 10 games, which is the greatest postseason... No, in their last 11 games. That is the greatest point differential ever for an 11-game stretch, regular or postseason, in the history of basketball. No team has played 11 straight games with a higher margin of victory than the Knicks have had. And it's not... I mean, they're a 53-win team. They're a 3C, but...

417.434 - 441.04 Unknown

I think we can look at them now and tell they were better than that. They just hadn't played up to it. Now they're healthy. Everyone's playing. Jalen Brunson is a beast and everyone else is chipping in. And the idea that I think people had when the conference finals began, that whoever won between San Antonio and Oklahoma City was going to romp to the title. I don't know.
