So along with being the American League Player of the Week, Bobby had 11 hits during the homestand and scored seven times.
Witt smacks it in the air, deep right field. Jared Kellinick is back, all the way back, it's gone! Tailing into the Royals' bullpen. An opposite field solo homer for Bobby Witt Jr. Salvi hits it in the air, deep to right field. Keldon races back toward the track, looks up, it's out of here! Ancient like fine wine. His first swing as a 36-year-old. And Salvador Perez visits the Royals bullpen.
A swing and a line into left field from Beeson. Here comes Jensen to score. Collins comes around third. He'll score as well. Loft in into second with a two-run pinch hit double. And the Royals pull within one. They're down 5-4. And a swing and a liner the other way into right field for him. Here comes Lofton around third. Here comes a throw home. It is cut off.
Mike L. Garcia ties the game with an opposite field base hit. Nick Lofton comes in to score, and it's 5-5 here in the sixth inning. Two outs, nobody on. Tied at 5, eighth inning. Pinch hitter Derrick Hill. Derrick Hill gives this one a run.

Chapter 2: How did Bobby Witt Jr. perform during the homestand?
Back it goes.
Goal!
Derek Hill, a pinch hit home run in the eighth inning, and the Sox take a 6-5 lead. When Banyama ends with a double-double 27-17, it was a Spurs night, and their one win from the Western Conference Finals. And now, the man who could not care less about the Broncos fan base whining about playing week one at Arrowhead, Soren Petro.
Right you are, Kyle. Right you are. Petro on the program on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Thank you for joining us on another spectacular spring day here in Kansas City. Get outside and enjoy it. I had a little lunch today outside. Fantastic breakfast. Fantastic. Sat outside with a great friend of the program, our buddy Cass from All Weather Decks. He and I got together. Happy birthday.
to our buddy Cass, actually a day early. I'm doing that early, but I'll go ahead and get it out there. Got together and chatted it up. Always great to chat with him and our great friends at AllWeatherDecks. And relax. AllWeatherDecks.net. Quick, shameless plug for our friends at AllWeatherDecks. They do such a great job. But, yeah, beautiful day to get outside.
So if you don't have a deck or patio, AllWeatherDecks.net. Get the process going. Get a free estimate right now. We got a lot we want to get to today here in the program. We are going to talk with one Ryan Lefevre coming up here a little bit later on. That's right. The face of the Kansas City Royals. Denny would be the voice of the Royals. Ryan would be the face of the Kansas City Royals.
You know how long Ryan's been doing TV in this town, Kyle? Not quite as long as Denny's been doing radio. Ryan has been doing it for 67 years. Doesn't he look great? 67 years. No, Ryan, I believe 99 or 98. I think it was 99 was his first year, if I'm not mistaken. That's 26 years. Uh, if it was 99 this year would be his 28th year. Oh yeah. Good call. It was the 99 season.
It's always, it's always one more when you got to go through the zeros and such.

Chapter 3: What are the implications of the Royals' recent losses?
So, uh, yeah, but good math, new math. We call that the kids call it new math. You know, what's fun. You should try this sometime, Kyle. I know you don't. I know you've never done this. But pay for cash someplace that has a cash register. You know, now where they can take it back. It has a cash register. And someone younger than you has to provide change. Yeah. Yeah.
I know you're not qualified to figure out whether or not they got it right. Maybe. Maybe you are. Are you good at counting change? No. No? Yeah.
Yeah.
It would be great. I think nowadays what they do is they just look at it a few times, and they look at me, and they look at the register, and they look at the bill again, and then they look back at me, and then they look at the register, and then they just grab some random coins and some random small denomination bills. They think he's not going to check this. And they hope.
I think that's where we're at today. I enjoy it. I like it. And part of the reason I'd suck at it is, you know, growing up, I had one of those change counter things. So I just put it in this bucket and it would automatically count it for me. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. So I wasn't developing any critical skills.
Hell yeah. Can you count change? I get thumbs up there. Hell yeah. He said quick trip. Okay. Oh, yeah. 676. I give you a 20. What am I getting back?
13-24.
Hell yeah. There you go. It was quicker than that, by the way. We had a relay. You had to say it to Kyle, and then Kyle had to say it. Yeah, I had to hit a button a couple times. I'm surprised Kyle didn't go 13-24 with the head turn. Maybe.
I trust him.

Chapter 4: What changes are being discussed for the Royals' lineup?
Adapt or die. Yeah. What do you think that large soda is now?
At the theater? They're hitting us for over five bucks, aren't they? Oh, yeah. Have to be. Popcorn's like over ten? Yeah. And then they send the actors out to go, you really need to see it in the theater. You need to see it in the theater. I'd love to see it in the theater, but I don't want to sell my child. Yeah. So, I'm going to wait. Wait. For the streaming service that raises my bill.
Yeah, there you go. You know, every year like clockwork. You can pick. You know. You can gouge me over here. You can gouge me over there. But I ain't getting gouged everywhere. I love going to the theater. I'm not trying to run down the theater. I love going to the theater. It is ungodly, the prices today, especially if you're an old fart, like what you're paying.
But seeing the movie in the theater, hearing the other people's reaction, now that they've got the reclining seats, I'm a huge fan of the movie theater. I encourage everybody to go to the movie theater. I love it. But, you know. that's some things that are kind of changing things. I hope we never lose completely the movie theater. I really hope, but I don't know.
I mean, here's a thought, maybe charge less to the theaters. Cause I remember like the deal was when I worked at the old ranch mart theater, which is still there, but it's not the same as it was. We had a 600 seat auditorium back in the day there. Um, We were told that we made one or two cents per ticket. And I think the tickets were like, maybe that was the tree fitty. Right?
And then all the profit was on the concessions. So, you know, in my mind, I'm like, so I'm the integral cog here. You should pay me more because I'm the guy that's actually making it happen. When I upsell with the Mike and Ike. Would you like a Mike and Ike with that? No, those taste like crap. Give me my popcorn, fat boy. I'm late. You know?

Chapter 5: What are Ryan Lefevre's thoughts on the Royals' pitching staff?
It's how it was, man. It's a different time. We're much kinder, gentler people now. We'll talk some Royals baseball with Ryan Lefevre coming up here shortly. Todd Lebo will be with us if anyone can get him to work. I don't know. I heard he mailed in all morning or something. Whatever. I don't know. If we can get him, if we can find him, if he gets here today, we'll play the feud.
Who's in for big boy? That would be Michael Darcy. Michael, well, not bigger boy. No, but he is a big boy. We have decreased our weight. Increased our muscle mass. Increased our reaction time. I mean, Curtis can't buzz in. It's stunning.
I think Darcy lost to Curtis one time, didn't you? Buzzing in? Yeah, on a buzz in.
That's just because he didn't know. It wasn't because he couldn't formulate his name. Oh, it's my name again. Oh, Darcy. Ah, damn. He got me again. That's like the inner conflict in Curtis, I think. I haven't tried to tell him.
I'm like, get the... Make the... Be ready with the... I'm ready with the... I'm literally like... When you're reading the question, I might go... Because I got the... Petro! Yeah. Just get the... Get on the starting line. Rev the motor. Keep the foot on the brake. And then when it's time to go, off the brake and you slam the gas.
I mean, didn't anybody try to, you know, make the quick jump off the line to cut over? What am I, the only one that's figured this out?
It's like he's trying to think of the answer before he says his own name.
It's like you've got to assume success. Right. Right? I don't know what the question is. If it starts down music, becomes whatever. Yeah. Right? But you're going anywhere that's not music.
That's actually one of the first things Darcy asked me when he walked in. He said, we have any music categories today?

Chapter 6: How does Ryan view the Royals' current offensive strategy?
And we actually moved to Wednesday because we thought, well, this will be easier. Right. Because now your weekend trips can spill over to Tuesday. Yeah. Just get your skinny ass back here by Wednesday afternoon. And, hey, you're headed out the next week. Fine. You can still get a flight tonight. We thought this is it. This is the perfect location.
But I've got the detailed list for his May and June appearances. Okay. When's he here? He's here today.
Or when's he not here? I don't care. However you list it.
The 27th. He's off. May 27th? June. He's in studio all of June. Bull. That's what he says.
I got $100, says that don't happen. Who wants the other side of that? No chance he's in studio every Wednesday in June. None. Zero. I might even lay odds. Who's feeling frisky?
It's June 24th. He will not be.
Thank you. See, I told you. No chance. He's an insufferable pain in the ass, but he's worth it. We love Grunny. He does a great job, so we're happy to have him. Whenever we can get him, however we can get him to you, we will bring you Tim Grunhardt. Biggest pain in your ass. I always like to pull this. Biggest pain in your ass. Who is it? Is it Grunny?
No, it's not Grunny because whenever he has to change, he's good about it. you know, recording with us.
Yeah. And Passon, Passon hadn't been bad. He hadn't been bad. Passon's been like, I think he's, I think he puts SportsCenter on a leash. He must. I'll tell you when I'm going to be on SportsCenter. You don't tell me. I tell you.

Chapter 7: What does Ryan think about the Royals' chances in the AL Central?
But it's baseball. Screwy things happen. It may be 1-2 with the White Sox, 2-1 with the Cardinals. I'd love 4-2. It's still on the table. This team has now had two different win streaks of over four games. So it's not something that they can't handle. So there's no panic with last night's game, but... Let's do take note of a couple of things. First of all, Kolick isn't God's gift. No.
We see why he's 29 years old and still struggling, or at least working, I should say, to establish himself as part of a five-man rotation. Okay? So he is a guy that probably needs one more weapon. To really be a guy where you go, okay, we are going to deal Cole Reagans. And not because Kolek's going to replace Reagans, but because Kolek is going to replace Noah Cameron as the five.
And whoever else bumps up into the one. You know, he probably needs another weapon. But he's got... enough ability, and he's willing to throw strikes that we like it. Right? So I'm not going to panic because the first time in seven starts, he didn't have a quality start.
Because my expectations for him and for Noah Cameron, guys can come from off the radar screen to be elite-level talents, but usually they show signs earlier. in their minor league career that makes him one of the top prospects? I mean, who's the superstar over the last 10 years? Because you've been following baseball at least that long. You do a good job of watching the minors.
Can you think of a star... Like, I'd give you Salvador Perez. I think of Salvador Perez as a star. That's the last guy that really didn't appear on any prospect list. I mean, it's a pretty good gauge if you play fantasy sports, right? Most people play fantasy football. Not nearly as many people play fantasy baseball. Just nerds like me and Steven. When you play fantasy football...
You know, there's always somebody, like every championship team I feel like has good health in fantasy football, has good health, and made a pickup along the way that becomes an every week starter. Yeah, the steal. That's what I call it.
Somebody who the draft or the auction, somebody who came from off the radar screen, and you find them either early or maybe you get them right before the running back in front of them goes down. You're like, you know what? There's no good running back out there, but... If Cam Akers goes down for the Rams, next man up is this guy, and they know how to run the football, I'm going to take that guy.
Right? And I feel like those will be good players, but they don't go on to be...
patrick mahomes they don't go on to be adrian peterson they don't go on to be derrick henry you know they end up being very good players i mean i think probably the last guy who did that was priest holmes and again that's not the last 10 years i think the last 10 years in baseball i think it's even more like i can look at fantasy baseball and be like if we didn't have him in our minor leagues if we weren't bidding on him

Chapter 8: What are the next steps for the Royals moving forward?
And that's that's absolutely accurate. Until you have emerged to where your multiple games over 500 to where two or three losses in a row doesn't drop you back below 500 until you get there. You really don't want to lose more than two in a row. You really don't. And you really want to try to avoid losing back-to-back to the same team. And that's where the Royals find themselves tonight.
So, not a lot to see in that game. But, you know, I think there were positives. Not a lot to see as far as what is the end of the season ultimately going to be. I don't think last night is the telling moment. Like I said, positives. Salve Homer, that's good. Bobby Homer, that's good. Isaac Collins hit the ball hard. Jack Caglione hit the ball hard. Nick Lofton keeps doing what he's doing.
Those are positives. Matt Straum. A guy hit a pitcher's pitch for a home run. Stephen Kolek is what he is. This is the reality of it. This was due. And what was due happened, and they still almost won. So just a professional baseball game. That's all I saw last night. 9133-810-810. We'll take a break. Ryan Lefevre joins us next here in the program. Welcome back.
You're on the program here on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Let's talk some Royals baseball. Royals and White Sox, I guess it's an important series, right? They're all important. Let's talk to the voice, the face. I like the face. Denny's still the voice. The face of the Kansas City Royals, Ryan Lefevre. How are you, buddy?
Great. Thanks for liking my face.
Yeah. Oh, we do. You know, we like it. We subscribe to it. You know, we share it. We do all the things you should do in today's modern world when it comes to your face, Ryan. So you should feel good about that.
It makes me feel very good. Thank you. I will be thinking about that all night tonight during the game.
Yeah, I'm sure you will. Thanks for filing that away. Let me ask you this. This is something Curtis kind of asked, and I think it's a good question. Have they righted the ship enough to where we are not panicking every time they would lose a game or lose back-to-back games? Are we now confident that this is a team that is going to be, at the bare minimum,
competitive here in the AL Central, and we don't need to fret about the season getting away from us the way 7 and 16 scared people to start.
