Chapter 1: What holiday events are happening at Advent Health Sports Park?

0.318 - 20.346 Unknown

Celebrate the holidays at Advent Health Sports Park December 20th. Start your day with brunch and bowling with Santa at 10 a.m. Then hit the ice for skating with the Grinch at 2 p.m. Festive fun, photos, and family memories all in one magical day. Don't miss it at Advent Health Sports Park. I told Blair, I said, it's not this song, by the way. Blair and I were having a conversation on the break.

20.366 - 32.979 Unknown

I said, it seemed like there's always some piece of music, there's some hook or something in the back of my mind at all times. If I'm not thinking about something, I get some song bouncing around in my head. It's not this song, by the way.

0

32.999 - 33.9 Blair Kerkhoff

This is not the one?

0

33.96 - 34.12 Unknown

No.

0

35.482 - 55.772 Blair Kerkhoff

Okay. Good to know. Blair Kirkhoff is here. He's brought to you by our friends at Art and Frame Warehouse. Framekc.com is where you can find them online. 90 Second Metcalf is where you can see them in person. Lifetime warranty with everything they frame. They're experts. They're specialists when it comes to framing the sports memorabilia. Sure, they can frame everything else as well, but...

56.09 - 76.516 Blair Kerkhoff

Taking care of and protecting your item is a very important part of the equation. You know, some people will pin it down. It actually creates a hole. It damages the item, makes it less valuable. Protect your collection with the experts. Art and Frame Warehouse. Michael and his staff are fantastic. More than 25 years locally owned and operated. They'll deliver. They'll install as well.

76.576 - 96.188 Blair Kerkhoff

I highly recommend that service. Everything I've had framed. when it comes to my memorabilia collection, has been Framed at Art and Frame Warehouse for more than 20 years. I've been going there. They've been in business for more than 25. Go to framekc.com. Blair, how are you, buddy? Doing well. Hope you are, too. But we were chatting about the baseball team.

96.657 - 97.678 Unknown

Yeah, the local nine.

98.92 - 99.721 Blair Kerkhoff

The Mudville nine.

Chapter 2: What insights does Blair Kerkhoff provide about the Kansas City Royals?

211.06 - 233.453 Unknown

Really bad mistake on his part. Didn't cost the Red Sox. No, because they hit. Yeah, they did, especially Durant. He came in and raked. Yeah, it's frustrating. It's maddening watching these guys. So I'm sure like you, I had the NBA game on one channel, the Royals on the other, and just continuing to find myself more mesmerized by the basketball.

0

233.873 - 236.337 Blair Kerkhoff

Making it easy for you to move over to the basketball.

0

236.357 - 251.492 Unknown

This is the third day in a row that for our Open I began with – One bad Royals highlight, and then the radio station changing channels sound effect, and then the NBA. Let's watch the NBA, because for three straight nights, it's been a heck of a lot more fun to watch.

0

252.856 - 261.995 Blair Kerkhoff

Right now is a good time, because we have a game every night, because they alternate days. I think there might be one day we don't have one where they take a double day off because they don't want to be on Friday or whatever.

0

262.135 - 266.622 Unknown

No, they're straight through to the end of this. That's great. All the way through to next.

266.803 - 271.971 Blair Kerkhoff

We've always got that, and we've got the NHL right now, so we usually have an alternative.

272.512 - 275.136 Unknown

Unless somebody sweeps or short series.

275.156 - 276.298 Blair Kerkhoff

But before long, we won't.

276.598 - 296.265 Unknown

Yes. And that's going to suck. Right. We're going to have that empty period before training camp begins. About a month from now, it'll be nothing but the Royals. About that, yeah. A couple weeks of each series. So disappointing. Oh, boy.

Chapter 3: How does the Diamond Cup impact college basketball?

347.017 - 349.22 Blair Kerkhoff

Yeah, so we got that going for us. You know, that's nice.

0

349.56 - 349.78 Unknown

Yeah.

0

349.861 - 360.332 Blair Kerkhoff

That's fun. That's good to hear. Like all that. Meanwhile, 24 teams in a college football playoff. Indeed. Are we going to get it or not?

0

361.848 - 373.788 Unknown

I don't think you're going to get it. I don't think it's going to happen. They have to decide on it before December 1st this year, and I think they'll table it and go. The SEC doesn't want it.

0

373.888 - 380.92 Blair Kerkhoff

Have to decide by December 1st for the 26th season? No, not for the 26th season, for 27. For 27, okay.

380.9 - 403.787 Unknown

And right now there's too much – the Big Ten, the ACC, and the Big 12 want it. The SEC is kind of split. Some of their people want it. Some don't. ESPN doesn't want it. Fox and other networks want it. So there's kind of a little too much disagreement for it to happen quickly. A lot of discussion is going to happen these next couple of weeks because we're all having their spring meetings.

Chapter 4: What are the implications of the new Diamond Cup format?

403.927 - 429.79 Unknown

SEC is going to Destin next week for their spring meeting. Big Ten has already had theirs. Big 12 will have theirs. So I think what's going to happen is some kind of compromise. I think they're going to go from 12 to 16 to 24. That'll be the progression. Just a thought on mine because the SEC is – you can't do this unless all conferences are going to buy in and they're the loudest.

0

Chapter 5: What future matchups are planned for the Champions Classic?

431.373 - 440.15 Unknown

Whether they're the most influential anymore with the Big Ten success the last few years, I don't know. But they're certainly the loudest. And ESPN controls it. And ESPN doesn't want it to happen.

0

440.591 - 448.145 Blair Kerkhoff

If it's inevitable, why wouldn't – like what's going to – like if ESPN's a no now, what's going to make them be a yes later?

0

448.726 - 466.465 Unknown

Well – ESPN would still control a 16-team playoff. That's part of the contract. What they don't control would be anything larger than 16, is the way I understand it. Do they have any say in that? Well, I think networks and streaming services have influence.

0

466.485 - 480.972 Blair Kerkhoff

I mean, if there's a contract that specifies 16, then I would think it would be, and if we go beyond, then we can open it up to everybody else. ESPN can kick and scream all they want, but if it's contractually written, they're like, no, no, we've decided to expand more, and we're welcome to hear your bid.

0

480.952 - 504.479 Unknown

Yeah, yeah. Well, I do think that it's going to get to 24 at some point, whether it's, you know, by whether decisions made before December 1st this year or another time in the future. And I think the only way it works is if other networks get involved in it. And it... The first weekend of the NFL playoffs, every network's got a game, at least a game, right?

505.18 - 519.132 Unknown

All the stakeholders in the NFL have a game. I think that's how it's going to have to work with college football. NBC's going to have games, and CBS is going to have games, and name your streaming service will have games. And to me, that's the only way it can work.

519.353 - 539.595 Unknown

It's the only way they can get enough money to make it work because they're going to lose the money that they would make on conference championship games because those are going to be gone. Because they'll want the playoff to start the first weekend in December, which is conference championship weekend, and then go through the first or second weekend in January.

540.397 - 572.788 Unknown

I don't have a strong feeling about this. I think you'll lose conference championship games and maybe some bowl games out of this. If they're being replaced with other college football games, I kind of don't care. I just want the games. And if you're looking at a 10-2 versus an 8-4, 9 versus 24 opening round of a college football playoff game, that's like a citrus bowl to me.

572.968 - 591.512 Unknown

That's like a 10-2 SEC or a Big Ten against an 8-4 SEC team. That's the same thing as far as I'm concerned. So let's... If the schools can make more money with an expanded playoff, and I think they can if they bring other networks aboard, then go do it.

Chapter 6: How does Gene Taylor plan to strengthen K-State's athletic programs?

705.201 - 716.699 Blair Kerkhoff

And... You know, for West Coast games there, the hosts were Alabama, Miami, Notre Dame, BYU, Texas, and Austin, Utah, USC.

0

717.339 - 719.581 Unknown

Yeah, you can spread that out.

0

719.601 - 720.862 Blair Kerkhoff

You could have a 9P.

0

721.142 - 727.147 Unknown

Yeah, 11A and 9P, all the way to 9P. Yeah, yeah. I kind of like that. I do, too. I like that lineup.

0

727.167 - 746.533 Blair Kerkhoff

And then you do the same thing the next week because you're still at 16. Then the other ones go in. So you do the same thing. I think they'd be better off doing that. Then it's like, we're going to go two on this Thursday and one on a Friday. I think they'd be better off having, we're going to own this day.

746.885 - 766.245 Blair Kerkhoff

And in the NFL, you want to take your chances that you've got a good Saturday game, okay, good luck to you. Yeah, yeah. But I think the NFL, I think college football should flex some muscle. Those games in college football, excuse me, I almost just spit all over myself. I don't know what the hell just happened there.

767.106 - 789.806 Blair Kerkhoff

Those games in college football are single elimination games, so they mean something versus getting Titans-Jets. And even if you're like, no, we're going to cherry pick it, we're going Chiefs-Chargers. Okay. I mean, that's a good game, and all of Kansas City would watch, and both Charger fans would watch, and you'd have an element.

790.307 - 809.462 Blair Kerkhoff

But the more compelling television is the team that's going to be out if they don't win. Right, right. And if you put multiple games on, then you've got the opportunity. What I think is great about the NCAA tournament is, well, we've got four games. Two of them are turds, but two of them are good. And we can watch that. You sell the ad revenue across.

809.482 - 835.402 Blair Kerkhoff

But like you said, the only way you can do that is if you've got one network that's controlling it. You know, sell the advertising. Right. You know, or a partnership, whatever. I don't know how that the whole inner workings of true TV, TBS, TNT and CBS is, you know, affiliation. But but they're all in it. Like when you see an ad, it's running on all four networks. That's right.
