Chapter 2: What are the highlights of the Two-Minute Drill segment?
See him today at Joslyn's Jewelry. Let's start things off in Oklahoma City. We begin with Mark Rogers. He of the sports animal WWLS in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma leads us off today. Mark, how are you, my friend? I'm great, Saran. Good to talk to you. Good to talk to you. Ho-hum on your way to another title in Oklahoma City. Is that kind of the feeling of these playoffs?
We're just goofing around until we can hang another banner?
No, I don't think so. The Spurs have put plenty of fear into Oklahoma City with what they did in the regular season in that series. But OKC has sure been great in these first-round opponents, I guess these first-round opponents the last two years and this year also. So not much worry about tonight's game necessarily. I think the Thunder feel pretty good about advancing past the Lakers.
Or if the Rockets make an incredible comeback, Houston, then I think once you reach the Western Conference Finals, it's going to be something that everybody's excited about.
Yeah, that's the big one. How is the health? They've had a number of people out throughout the course of the year and still moved in as the number one seed. Is everybody how healthy is or how healthy are all the key parts?
The Thunder going into the playoffs had their first clean bill of health all season long. And then Doug injures his hamstring, the opposite hamstring of which he was out for most of the regular season. The left one in game two against Phoenix, which he was really having a very, very good first half. So it's a grade one strain, not a grade two strain.
So it's week to week, not necessarily two to four weeks or something like that. I'm not sure. When he comes back, they sure can use him because he does everything. He's a great defender, one through four. He can finish and transition. He can hit the three-point shot. I'm really an underrated player when people talk about this team. But hopefully he will be back sooner than later for OKC.
You mentioned the Spurs.

Chapter 3: How is Oklahoma City performing in the playoffs?
I mean, how much of that was, like I said, a team that was just cruising to get to the point in the season they knew they'd be measured by, the playoffs, and how much of it is it's just a bad matchup?
I think the Spurs are a bad matchup for everybody. The way that Wiminyama affects shots in the paint and at the rim was tough on Oklahoma City. They had a hard time adjusting to that. I don't think that it's... It's something that the Thunder can't do, but it's just something that they have to do a little bit differently.
And then I think all the rest of the players for the Spurs, a lot of their guards are just kind of underrated, and they do benefit from Wimbinyama on the defensive end, but they can all shoot threes and score. That's a really, really good team. I think Oklahoma City would win that series, but I think that it would be one that pushes them.
All right, let's talk about R. Mason Thomas. What did the Chiefs get when they made him the 40th pick overall in the draft?
I think you get a great citizen. I've had a chance to talk to him several times. I think he's a guy that's very thoughtful, got a good head on his shoulders, and he has a penchant to make the big play. There are times at OU where you really didn't notice him at the beginning of games, but he would come up with a couple of key sacks in third and fourth quarters, so I think that
When he can rush the passer, it can kind of elevate him as a specialist in the NFL. And I think he'll have a better NFL career than he did college.
Yeah, that's interesting because that's kind of what we've been thinking is like he doesn't appear to be, at least not right now, as an every down defensive end. He appears to be more of like a situational pass rusher. Is that the view you have of him at the next level?
Yeah, I think so. And I think he's, you know, his size, he's not a typical guy that just gets drafted because he's got great size. He, I think, is a guy that works really hard and I think will make the most of that. And I do think he'll be a little bit better as a situational player, not as much as he was relied on at OU to be kind of an every down edge guy at times.
So I think he's got great potential. I think this is a really good pick for them where they got him.

Chapter 4: What are the health concerns for the Thunder players?
I'm like, well, that sucks. But 9-3 might get you in now with the way it works. We'll see. Mark Rogers in Oklahoma City. Great stuff, buddy. We appreciate it. Have yourself a great week, my friend.
You too. Thanks, Duran.
Tennessee, Tennessee.
Chase McCabe, 102.5 The Game in Nashville, Tennessee. Chase, how are you, sir?
Saran, I'm doing well. How about yourself?
Really well. I'm curious, you know, every year, are we just, is this kind of like, you know, the Guinness Book of World Records? Like, I don't know if you've noticed, but like, you pay them to come out and then you get to break the record. Like, every year, the NFL draft, oh, we got another 100,000. There was 800,000 in Pittsburgh, allegedly.
Like, I remember Nashville just seeing that whole main drag going. packed and they said, you know, like 600,000 in Nashville. I'm curious, does anybody buy these numbers? Did you buy, were there really 600,000 people in Nashville? And do you, do you subscribe to my theory? The NFL just tax on another a hundred thousand every year.
Oh yeah, of course they do because everybody pads with their numbers. I mean, look, any, any business you're in, you figure out a way to make them look better than they actually are. So yeah, I certainly get that. But, yeah, I mean, look, when we had it here seven years ago now, I mean, I would say over the course of three days, it felt like there were that many people.
I mean, you couldn't get anywhere. But then again, on a Saturday night, it feels like there's 600,000 people on Broadway. So who am I to say different?

Chapter 5: How do the Spurs match up against the Thunder?
I do wonder, and maybe you've heard some stuff, I do wonder if... A phone call was made to Kansas City by Mike Borgonzi about trying to move back. I know KC ended up moving up to six. Was four ever on the table for them?
That was something we talked about quite a bit of would they try and move back if their guy wasn't there, but ultimately they go Tate at four, and he's now considered the number one receiver for the Tennessee Titans.
Yeah, they get back into the first round with Keldrick Falk. Do we like that move?
I do like that move. I actually had the opportunity to talk to this guy at SEC Media Days. Really liked what he brought to the table. And I think he's going to be a good fit for this team in this Robert Sala defense. So, you know, the sack numbers do concern me a little bit. But, you know, you see certain guys work better in, you know, certain systems.
And also, he was on a really, really, really bad team

Chapter 6: How is the Kansas City Royals' performance impacting the season?
So and he was one of the best players on that team. So, you know, he's going to be double teamed. So I think that's going to end up being a sneaky good pick.
OK, what about Cam Ward? Do they do enough? You mentioned getting the wide receiver, but are they just counting on a year of experience making it that much easier for him to to take a step up? Or or do you think they've done enough to actually provide him more protection, more weapons?
We'll see. I do think they got him some help with Tate. I think a sneaky good pick is going to be Nick Singleton, the running back out of Penn State that they got in the fifth round. This kid broke a lot of rushing records and all-purpose records. with Penn State, and they've had some pretty good running backs there, so I'm excited about that.
And then they got him some help on the offensive line. Pat Coogan, who was the Rose Bowl MVP with Indiana, they took him. And then Fernando Carmona was a guard out of Arkansas. I've heard some good things about both of those guys to help on the offensive line. They've at least created competition
And then, look, I mean, even making the defense better is going to help Cam Ward because if you can't put, you know, if they do go three and out, then you have your defense go get the ball back for you. I love Anthony Hill out of Texas. He's going to just be a Robert Sala guy. and come in here and do some things. So I do ā I mean, look, you never know until they actually start playing games.
But on paper, I feel like the Titans got better.
By the way, before I move off the Titans, what's the reaction to all the hubbub going on with Mike Vrabel? You know, like a lot of times they'll be like, well, you should have seen what was going on here type of stories that you start hearing after something like this breaks. How has Nashville reacted to the fall of Mike Vrabel?
The, I think the majority of people are kind of going, ah, not really surprised.

Chapter 7: What insights can we gain from R. Mason Thomas's draft pick?
I mean, there was, I'll just say from my, I'm not going to speak for other people. I always wondered because they were very tight and she always had the stuff with the Titans and to a point where we, you know, would jokingly call her a Titans beat writer because it seems like she always had the news. And, and so it just, you know, they're,
There were just things where you were just kind of like, huh, well, this is kind of interesting, but it's other people's business. I stay out of other people's business from that sense. But when the news came out, it was like, oh, OK, here we go. So I think you have some people that are cognizant that there are other people involved other than Vrabel and Rossini.
And so they're being respectful of that. And then you have some people that are celebrating his downfall because of how things ended here with Tennessee. But, you know, hopefully... He figures it out and she figures it out and their families, you know, they can all move on. But it certainly has taken, you know, a lot out of what should have been draft talk.
We were certainly spending some time talking about the former Titans head coach.
All right. Diego Pavia goes undrafted. We know he was not happy when he finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting. And last out then, he last out blanked the NFL draft. On social media, after he goes undrafted, he did get invited to Ravens minicamp. I'm just curious, what do Vanderbilt fans think of the way he's handled not winning the Heisman Trophy and not getting drafted?
I think there is disappointment. And I think that the F the NFL post may have been a fake. But again, it sets you up when you have that kind of behavior previously. Makes it real easy to make people think it was you. And, look, I like Diego. I think Diego's a good kid. I think Diego has a lot of passion that any NFL team would want to have in their locker room. He's a loyal guy.
He's going to go out there and bust his butt on every play. He's somebody that you would want to play alongside. But when you're undersized and, you know, people question the arm and you just don't have all the intangibles that some of the big boys have, and then on top of that, you like to run your mouth, They're not going to waste their time on you.
And unfortunately, I think that's what happens is that teams look at, you know, I mean, he was saying there were reports that he was saying he wanted to be a day one starter. And like, look, I love ambition. I love betting on yourself being the undertow. I'm never going to discount somebody for that. But you also have to be realistic in playing the game in which you're playing.
And I think teams just kind of left this. Hey, you know what? There's too much cockiness with this guy. We're just going to pass. And, you know, maybe he goes to the Ravens and has a good tryout and he ends up going to camp and getting signed as an undrafted free agent. But I hope he learns from it. I think he could thrive in the UFL or Canada and then maybe get another shot at the NFL.

Chapter 8: What are the expectations for Oklahoma football this season?
Yeah. It reminded me when I heard it, so it was good. We're good.
Yeah, because I texted you last night. No response.
Poor Daniel Carlson, who hasn't signed with the team yet, is now gone from my roster, which is very sad for me.
I know. It was a big one. You and I went to war over him in free agency. Very expensive kicker in the Dynasty League. All right. Give me a grade on what the Raiders did in the draft.
A minus. I think they were good. I don't think there was anything special. I mean, you get credit for drafting Mendoza at the top. I don't know. I actually would have tried to trade the pick and chop it around. But if you're going to pick there, you have to take them. So I don't know how much credit you get for that. There are some things that, you know, played out along the way.
I think there was other guys that would have gone with in certain spots. But my favorite pick by far of the Raiders draft was Javon McCoy. I think they were in a place at that point in the draft where they could take a swing on potentially a top 10 player in this draft. So I like that a lot. And then they clearly identified a need for speed on offense.
Like they drafted two sub four, three, five guys. to play receiver and running back. So I would say they did fine. There was nothing special about it, but I think it was a good foundation to build from.
Okay. What's the plan for how the quarterback's going to work, Mendoza and Cousins? How do you think that'll play out?
I mean, they're pretty insistent right now that it's going to be a competition and the best man will win. I don't see how in any actual competition Kirk Cousins would not win. I would assume he'd be the starter. He's so familiar with the offense. He worked for Kubiak for three years already. I expect him to be the starting quarterback.
