Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hi, Justin Mahoney here, president of First Business Bank's Kansas City region. With all the bank mergers lately, banking can feel uncertain. But rest assured, First Business Bank remains Kansas City's premier commercial bank. First Business Bank, member FDIC.
It is the program here on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Soren Petro, Curtis Siebel, Kyle Collier with you. You just heard it. Tim Grunhardt joins us. Brought to you by our friends at The Plumbing Pro. You know, if it won't flush... If you don't got hot water. Bad news. If it won't drain, that's a problem. It's a big problem. The one to know, Tim. Is the Plumbing Pro. The Plumbing Pro.
Go to the, remember the, theplumbingpro.com. Steve and his team are absolutely fantastic. Like I said, when it doesn't flush, when it can't do laundry. Maybe it's even worse.
Chapter 2: What are Tim Grunhardt's thoughts on the Chiefs' expectations?
Maybe you've got problems with the line going into the house. We're talking heavy equipment. Yes, they've got that. They can help you out with that. Sometimes, though, you can avoid that heavy equipment and avoid tearing out all your landscaping, tearing out your driveway, tearing out your sidewalk. They're low-impact pipe bursting. Basically, it's a way to replace that line that's damaged.
They thread the new pipe, the new state-of-the-art pipe, the better pipe inside the old one. It basically just... Pops that old clay pipe out. You have no problems. You don't have to dig everything up, save you a ton of money. They're experts. Plumbing's what they've done since 1980, and they're still doing it. You'll see a lot of familiar names on trucks driving around. Do your research.
You'll find out that.
most i'm gonna say of those companies yeah they still use the name they still make it sound like they've been around forever but they ain't the same people they're not locally owned and operated not with the same owner since 1980 like the plumbing pro the one to know is the plumbing pro go online to theplumbingpro.com good people we trust them yes we do working with them for over 20 years good people and uh yeah that's the last thing i do there's a plumbing problem yeah you saved me for sure inside or out
Tim, how are you, buddy? I'm doing great. Doing great and getting ready for a wedding. My youngest is getting married in St. Louis on Saturday.
Saturday?
Yeah, we're leaving tomorrow. Okay. Are you going to fly? I am not flying. Oh, usually you always fly to places. I am driving to St. Louis. No, I like to drive. I drive to Florida a couple times a year.
Nobody likes to drive to St. Louis. Stop.
Well, I mean, I like to drive. I'm not saying that the drive to St. Louis is a pleasant drive, but I do like to drive.

Chapter 3: How does Tim Grunhardt prepare for a wedding and manage family events?
Yeah, he wanted it. But now they're like, hey, well, Christmas is open. And, yeah, the NFL is kind of balked. They haven't given him a consistent slot there. But he's ā Paul will take it for him. The Chiefs have been there, what, three in a row now, four in a row?
In some ways, I think the NFL would be wise. I don't mind sitting and watching a football game on Christmas Day. We all like watching football. I get it. I just think of the people that have to work it. That's where I think of. We are fortunate enough that our boss is like, all right, you're not doing a pregame on Christmas Day. People are with their family. They're not paying attention.
We're not going to do it. We don't do the Central Bank pregame show that day. That's fine, but I think about the other family. Like I said, I'll watch football whenever, but if you're the NFL, I don't think any other team really wants this. NBA teams bitch about it. They do. And if you got one franchise, it's like putting their arm in the air.
Like, I think it'd be like, you know, okay, there's one of the team. We only have to piss one team off every year. So now we only got to go duck, duck goose. One out of 31, just give them this game and we're done with it because it, it, it sucks even more in this. And when it's a Wednesday, it's,
You know, there are weeks it's going to fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday, and it screws up your whole week. And the Chiefs are willing to do it. No coach wants that. No coach wants to play on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Not really even Friday.
And remember now, if you're playing Christmas, you've got to travel on Christmas Eve. A lot of families celebrate Christmas Eve as their day that they go to one side of the family or the other. Their tradition is Christmas Eve. So it knocks that one out, too.
But I know the reason why they don't want to do it. Sorry, I know you want to... But the reason they don't want to do it is because it's a standalone game with what they believe is a captive audience that's going to watch because people want to get the hell away from their families. And so they're going to watch what they want to watch with their families. Either way, they're going to watch.
And so they don't want to end up with some dog-ass... Yeah, the Mahomes era will end if they commit to the Chiefs and it's, you know... The Pitt guy that started a game. Oh, Tyler Palko. Tyler Palko going for a one-win Chiefs team on Christmas. They don't want that. They want to be able to try to cherry pick the best game.
And there's 104 guys who are on the rookie roster that competed this weekend. 104 guys, which is one of the largest they ever had. And Clark was talking about, hey, listen, we're going to leave no stone unturned. And actually, from the 104 guys, I think you had three. They signed three. Yeah, they had seven draft picks there. Obviously, those guys are all going to make it to the mix.

Chapter 4: What are the latest updates on the Chiefs' rookie camp?
15 out of the 16 best in the world are probably right here. So there's plenty of good places. We talked about some of them.
What was the Indiana kid's name? It's Khalil Benson. Khalil Benson. Explain to me, he started for a national championship team. He's 6'7". He's 320 pounds. He ran up 508, I believe, 40. He has 34-plus-inch arms. What am I missing? I don't know. No knees.
Is that it? Is there a medical on him? I have no idea. He's a really nice kid. Seemed like a smart kid. Was a big, big man. Yeah, won a national championship. Went to Colorado to kind of... You remember Deion's first year, they had no offensive line. So he went out after his first year and just signed every offensive line he can get.
And he went over there and he said, listen, it was a blank show at Colorado. He said we had to get out of there. And he went back to Indiana and obviously won the national championship. Everybody said that I've talked to a couple guys out there after they said he's very athletic and smart and they're going to give him a shot.
By the way, just as kind of a sidebar, do guys look a lot bigger now that you're shrinking?
They're huge. Is that it?

Chapter 5: What are the expectations for the Chiefs' defense this season?
They're huge now anyways. They are big men. There's one kid from Alaska. who played for a high school in Alaska, and he's talking about how they'd go play a high school in Juneau, or a high school in Skagway, or near Skagway, and they'd have to take the ferry to the game, or they'd fly to the game. I think Juneau, you can't get to Juneau
driving you have to either take a plane or a boat so uh yeah they uh interesting uh topics you know you know i said well you know he said yeah i mean this time of the year it starts to get light and you know at three or four o'clock in the morning we used to go and you know we had you know team workouts
at 3 or 4 in the morning when some of the guys worked on fishing boats, some of the other guys did other things. So because it doesn't get dark, they would practice in the middle of the night, and that helped them with their scheduling, which I thought was very interesting. A bunch of good guys.
The big topic, obviously, number one was food, because offensive linemen are always going to talk about food. And then number two, we were talking about the NIL thing and how that all worked out. A lot of them are actually taking a pay cut now to come to the Kansas City Chiefs. Now hopefully they make the team and get an opportunity to make a lot of money in professional football.
But a lot of them are getting paid pretty good money to go and play at the schools they were at. I think it was a couple at Northwestern, one at Indiana. I can't remember where the other guys were from. But the NIL thing, and they were talking about now there's GMs.
in college football where the GM is basically in charge of the NIL and distributing the NIL and making sure the NIL payments are made on time. And if they didn't get paid on time, these guys we're talking about, obviously they didn't raise their hand and say they did this, but they had teammates that they didn't get their check on Monday or Tuesday or wherever they got their checks.
They wouldn't go out to practice. That's the world we live in right now in college football. What's good, better, and different doesn't really matter what you think about it. The reality is if they're not getting paid, they're not going out on the field to play.
And I think that's how it ought to be.
That's very interesting to me that seeped down into college and how that works out where guys say, hey, I didn't get my check on Monday or Tuesday from wherever they get their checks from. And I am not participating in practice. Yeah, that's the world we live in in college football.

Chapter 6: How does the Chiefs' coaching staff influence player decisions?
That's great. Yeah. That's great because that is...
That was the big knock on him. I know it because we talked about it last week. And when I heard that, I kind of gave a second look and said, yeah, he worked really hard at it. He's got good skills. He's got good athleticism. He's got good vision. And listen, remember now, he's competing against 76 other guys that ā you know, are looking for a job right now.
So, I mean, it's not like he was out there going against the veteran guys. We'll see how that holds up when they start with OTAs, and probably not even OTAs, maybe minicamp whenever that is in June. So, you know, he's not going against the best talent in the world, but reality is for the talent that was on that field, And the job he was given, he did a good job. So he stood out.
He had a nice camp. He had good hands. He caught the ball on the backfield. And he competed. The word was he competed and passed pro drill. So Mansoor Delane had a nice camp. He said he did very, very well in seven-on-seven. He had multiple pass breakups and showed some burst. And Garrett Nesmeyer, the quarterback, was nine for 11 in 11-on-11, and they said he picked up the offense pretty well.
He felt very comfortable in the huddle. He had some command in the huddle, and he did a nice job. Those were three guys that I was told from different people that stood out. Emmitt Johnson, Nussmeyer, and... And then, of course, Mansour Delane stood out. He said, you know, he looked like the best corner in the draft.
I don't even want to... Yes, he better.
And then, of course, we talked about Xavier Lloyd, Marlon Sewell, and Khalil Benson were the three guys signed that were invitees, you know, from... So, yeah, so out of the 104 guys that were there, you had the... The seven draft picks and then the undrafted free agents, most of those guys are going to get invited back and kind of be there around the summer.
It's really out of that 76 of the invitee guys, three made it. So, you know, good for them. Congratulations.
On Nussmeier, let me ask you a question. How hard would it be for the Chiefs to keep three quarterbacks? I don't think it'd be very hard. Thank you. Thank you. Why is that hard? It's not. I thought it was a trick question. I'm glad, and I appreciate you going, boy, where is he going with this? Because it's not hard. The answer is it's not hard. You can keep three catchers.

Chapter 7: What insights does Tim Grunhardt provide on the Chiefs' offensive line?
Go see them. Tell Adam you heard about it right here on the program. Great, great people. Great sandwiches at La Feta Italian Delicatessen. Just watch at home. 7-1-2-0-8.
Yeah.
That's just... He was listed at like 7-1, I think, 185 when he was coming out in high school. Wow. So he's really bulked up since his high school days. By the way, Carlos Estevez has been removed from his game in AAA.
Is that correct? Yes, that comes from the MILB, our... Great producer, Kyle Collier, finding this information. 88-91. Wow. Faced three batters, walked one left, and on the MILB website it said injury delay. That's not good.
Nope.
We don't know that it's him, but we're suspecting it's him, that he came out after three batters.
And Stephen Kolick, as was expected, I think, optioned back to Omaha today. They've recalled right-hand pitcher Eric Sarantola. I assume they need an arm and a pen. No sense Kolick sitting around if he's not going to pitch next time.
I wonder, so who's going to start? Five games from now. I think cameras. You can't bring up Cola unless somebody gets hurt.
Yeah.
