What is the opening preview and who is the special guest for today’s show?
Fourth quarter of the program begins right now as we finish strong here on a Friday, hour number twenty of the week. Still to come, Kevin Harlan, the great Kevin Harlan from CBS Prime and Westwood One. We'll be uh talking some Chiefs football, uh some NFL football with us here shortly, right now.
One of the neat things uh they've added this year to the broadcast when Kevin's on Westwood One is the the vo the announcer cam. I did they didn't I think they had that last year. Every game he does, there's a it's fantastic. Just to watch the best there's ever been actually work. When he gets that call to see him get into the and the people in the booth are into it as well. So it's really cool to see how that works.
Yeah, it is. Uh he does a fantastic job. Looking forward to talking to him, get his thoughts on this pivotal game, this big matchup down in Miami with the Dolphins.
Well, it's hard to hard to overstate the importance.
Yeah, it is. Uh let's hear from Kenneth Walker. The Chiefs made him available. You thought maybe after being player of the week, uh week one, he might be available. Uh made available today. Uh been getting quite a workload. Like we said, uh he's on pace for four hundred carries. On the season, Walker was asked if his body's tired after two busy games. Nah, usually after the game.
game a couple of days after you're a little sore. But uh when you do rehab and go to treatment, you know, get the flow back throughout the week, it'll be back to normal.
Is it a pace that maybe you think you can maintain?
Uh definitely. Yeah. Um, you know, whenever my number card I'm gonna just try my best to make plays, you know, um just keep going throughout the season.
Kevin, do you do you actually feel like the more reps and the more work you get, the sorta stronger you get by game's end, like you like you you beat off it?
Yeah, definitely. Um, you know, at this position you get a rhythm and I feel like when you get the rhythm, you know, be able to play fast and, you know, be yourself and uh also, you know, the way we practice it makes it much easier in the game.
Predictable answer on the middle one about yeah, I can do it, but That's n hopefully that's not his call.
Yeah. Um, all right, uh how about his running mate? Maybe we'll see a little bit more of Emmett Johnson down in Miami. Walker was asked uh about his new sidekick.
You know, since he got here, he's been working, you know, in a playbook, uh on the field, you know, asking questions. So every time he gets his shot he makes the best of it, you know. He go out there and shine and, you know, I'm proud of him and he's gonna continue to do great, you know, throughout the season to help us uh get to where we wanna go, you know. Um yeah.
Jim, is that funny for you to obviously you want to stay on the field as much as possible, but you also want to see them grow. I mean, it how do you manage that in your own mind?
Yeah, honestly, um that's we we talked about the other day, like how we gon feed off each other, you know. Always uh we love to see each other shine, you know, him, Brashard, everybody in the running back room. So um, you know, whenever I come out he goes in, you know, I always want him to do good and he's gonna t continue to do good. Like I said earlier, and he just gonna get better. You know, the sky's the limit for him.
I mean he looks impressive. Walker delivers more of a punch, but man, Emmett Johnson has shown the the the the elusiveness that that we saw at Nebraska. It's already seen it here.
You mentioned uh punch, they having more of a punch. I was gonna say they they went from having no punches to a great one two punch.
Yes.
They did not have anything going to the running back
position. Now you say last year they had a guy who could s get to the hole but couldn't see it, and then a guy who could couldn't get to it but could I think it's there. One guy could do something with it but he couldn't see it.
Yeah. It struck me on the drill with Tim Benz when he said uh the Steelers uh they can't run the ball and when they try it's pathetic.
