Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hello, my name is Helen Jenner, President of Reformed Wales, and you're watching the Reformed UK podcast.
Music
Hello and welcome to the Reform UK podcast, the show that takes you behind the scenes as Nigel Farage challenges the established political parties. How are you all right?
OK, yes.
You're fine, thanks.
Yeah, good, good.
I'm Ray Addison, and this week we're heading to Wales, which has been governed by Labour for over 25 years, often in partnership with Plaid Cymru.
This is Dan, our Welsh leader. How are you? OK, yeah. Good, thanks. He's the one on the ballot paper, not me.
Under their governance, Wales now has more than 540,000 people waiting for NHS treatment, with public services under strain and many communities feeling neglected.

Chapter 2: What historical significance does Aberdare hold in Welsh politics?
Yeah, but there's a lot of it happening.
Yeah.
I'm fed up with them.
On the high street, several storefronts are shuttered and the commercial vacancy rate is pushing 15%.
I've got a business by here, and I am voting for you 100%.
Thank you very much.
It's about time we had someone on our side.
There's been nobody on the side of small business for decades.
These struggles are clear to local business owners and residents alike.

Chapter 3: How do voters in Wales perceive the Labour Party's long-term governance?
There's two options. There's us, we're offering real change. You've seen what we're offering. And there's Pyke Henry, who have been part of the problem for the last 27 years, propping Labour up. They want independence, which will impoverish us. It's quite a very different change. That's a dangerous change.
The next stop was a long-established local business, Mertha Motor Auctions.
Lovely to meet you. Good to meet you. So this is where it all happens. 48 years you've been in business. Have you really?
By embracing new technology, what started as a local company is now able to sell globally.
Is that where you do your auctions there? No, so everything drives through here.
The auctioneer stands there.
Look at the auctioneers up there. The vehicle stops just in front. People have bid it all around, all over the world. And then it drives back out of that door and back into line. And do you do it remotely as well? It's streamed? Yes. That's a brilliant model.
But the UK government's changes to inheritance tax reliefs, which came into effect in April, are putting family businesses like this at risk.
And of course, it's people like you. Now with this bloody inheritance tax stuff. Exactly. I mean, what are they thinking? Yeah, exactly. So what time are the auctions?

Chapter 4: What challenges are residents of Merthyr Tydfil facing?
They're on benefits... So they've got money in their pocket compared with a working man. And they just cause agro in the street. Eventually they end up fighting amongst themselves. They're banned from the pubs. It's all extra strong lager and extra strong cider. I've reported them I don't know how many times. I've written to the council about it. We've not had a reply.
Not even the courtesy of a reply? No. No. A few miles away at a social club, members, many of whom were ex-forces, told Nigel and Dan how angry they are about the ongoing prosecutions of British veterans.
We're asked to do a job and we get on and do it. Like it or not, it's sometimes worse than we ever imagined. You don't want it coming back and biting you on the arse.
Yeah, we've still got 242. former Special Forces soldiers facing prosecution. So, you know, we've got the most unpatriotic Prime Minister without doubt we've ever had. Yeah, well, let's hope we can do it. Let's hope we can become the biggest party in Wales. Dan, our leader in Wales, has done a great job and has been appearing.
Thank you.
doing very, very well in the TV debates. No, thank you. In 10 days' time, Labour are going to be kicked out of the Senedd. And they're going to lose their grip on Wales. And we've got a choice. Simple, very simple choice. You've got Plaid Cymru, who say they are the party of change. Although they've been Labour's puppets for the last 27 years. They're just going to carry on.
Carry on in coalition. Sorry, sir? Muppets. Yeah, Muppets. I agree. I agree. All these technical terms.
Or
All these reformers, you know, real change, real ambition, sort out the mess down in Cardiff Bay and actually puts the people of Wales first. Not ideology, not green targets, not independence. You guys.
