Oh.
Ben Lindbergh 0:10
Mm-hmm. Hello, and welcome into the Ringerverse, your Nexus feed for all things fandom. I am Ben Lindbergh of Button Mesh, and proximity chatting with me are two cherished friends and colleagues who shared a transformative co op experience with me this week. And I'm not even talking about how transformative a co op experience this podcast will be. First, we have Ringer Deputy Art Lead Spider Matt James. Hello, Matt. Hello. Great big walking with you and Steve this week. Oh, fantastic. Bringer senior audio producer and big walker sipping from some big water. It's Captain All America himself, Steve Allman. Welcome, my friend. Oh yes, I got my steps in and you can only hear me because I'm that much closer to you, but if I walk away, it's gonna go away.
Ben Lindbergh 0:59
I was going that place. It does feel like I got more exercise this week than I actually did. I got very little because we were big walking, but we were walking all over the place. That counts, right? Uh there's gotta be some sort of digital, I don't know, conversion value there. But uh we were moving our fingers on the thumbsticks. That counts for something. We are indeed here to have a talk, a big talk about big walk, the new co-op sensation from the makers. Of Untitled Goose Game, and two other newly released games, which we have also been playing: the return of 2D Marvel Fighting Games in Marvel Token Fighting Souls, and Pokemon Maker Game Freaks' new action RPG Souls-like Beast of Reincarnation. And then, in honor of No Man's Sky's 10th anniversary, yes, No Man's Sky is turning 10 this Sunday, we will be sharing our

all-time top five post-release gaming glow-ups, as well as our top five lists of games we wish had gotten glow-ups, but never did. It's not too late. But before all that, I have a confession to make. And you guys already know this, but I have to come clean to the listeners. I purchased a PS five pro. It did it.

What did Ben confess about his recent PS5 Pro purchase?

Ben Lindbergh 2:15
Oh no, man. I did it. I know. I am not a proud new PS5 Pro owner. If anything, I'm an ashamed or sheepish PS5 Pro owner because it feels like an extravagant purchase. And you were wrestling with this, Steve, when you got your Steam Deck. And you were saying you really like your Steam Deck, but also it's conspicuous consumption, right? And PS5 Pro, I had put off for years. And up to this point, I had resisted every kind of mid-generation console refresh. Just slims, minis, pros, X's, OLEDs. I had drawn a line. I was not gonna do it. You were not gonna get me to buy multiple versions of the same console until this week. And I gave in and I'm just a dirty, dirty Playstation pig and I'm disgusted with myself.
Matt James 3:09
Well I'm not gonna acknowledge that. It's a little strong. He just overpaid a bit for something. That's all.
Ben Lindbergh 3:16
I did. And here's the thing, Ben.
Steve Ahlman 3:19
Yeah. It may be like that type of consumption, but as as of now, it's still an appreciating asset from all of our considerations. This is only gonna get worse. And that's the world that we live in now. And this might be the last console you ever buy. So, you know, congratulations.
Ben Lindbergh 3:38
That might be so. Yeah, it's it's overpaid, but it's underpaid relative to what it'll probably cost three months from now or something. So in a way I'm saving money. That's how I'm and we might never get a PS six.
Matt James 3:48
So that's the
Ben Lindbergh 3:49
That's the thing, right? You had Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnik, who did announce that there is a GTA extended look, trailer three premiering on Netflix of all places on August 27th. Yeah. We will be covering it, of course, when it drops there and then on YouTube later that day. But Strauss Zelnik was also talking about how he thinks in the next three years or so we'll all just be streaming. Our games and we won't need consoles anymore, which people have been saying for years, obviously. People have been saying And I wrote something before this console generation about whether it would be the last console generation. Little did I know what would ensue. But people have been speculating about this for years.
Ben Lindbergh 4:30
But the the big thing holding it back is always that people just have too much latency.
