Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is the Sounding Board Podcast with Hutchie and Damo. Thanks to Drinkwise. If you're choosing to have a drink, choose to Drinkwise.
Question time on the Sounding Board for Drinkwise. If you're choosing to drink, choose to Drinkwise. A heap of questions about your political statements last week, Hutchie. I say political because that's the way our listeners have posed the questions, and Paddy's one of them.
Paddy, I'm just going to refer you and literally dozens of other people who've wanted further answers on Hutchie's talking about the firebombings of the establishments in Victoria. Late in the main body of the show this week, we attempted to broach it. Hutchie has all but promised a potential solution for the issue on next week's show.
So I'm just going to refer you back to next week's show to get some further detail through Hutchie on the latest issue with... this state here in Victoria. Philip on Facebook, who are the great go-to experts that news services and morning shows go to for quotes in your time? For example, this is right up your alley, actually.
For example, any youth crime slash bail law stories, let's get a suited Charlie Pizzina in for his opinion.
Charlie Pizzina's a ripper. We, on our Saturday morning show, call them the go-tos.

Chapter 2: What political questions did listeners ask this week?
You hardly become a go-to like Laurie Levy in Duck Shooting and Neil Harvey and the Australian cricket team. Yep.
You got some more?
There's lots of associations that really live only to give comments in the media, isn't there?
They're financial. Yeah. Yeah, Justin Cook can do it. The AFL Fans Association. The financial world's opening up for this, isn't it? Is it Sally Tindall who – I think a pretty well-known person. She seems to be quoted a lot. She does work for a private company or company, but yeah, another one in that category.
Matt, on email, how would you ensure the best golfers from Live, like Bryson, Phil and Cam Smith, are welcomed back into the PGA tent? The PGA took a pretty harsh stance on those who defected, but have allowed players to return if they pay big fines and re-qualify. This is up your alley, Hutchie.
Well, I think there's a model already set up, isn't there, about how you do your time to get back into it. Now, that might change when the pool's available. A couple of interesting things on the leave. I noticed this morning that they've involved an external advisory firm to help recreate their – like, they're clearly going to try and go on without public – without the Saudi money. Are they?
Yeah. Okay. There was a – The CEO today said they'd engaged a firm that they felt there was great value and they're going to try and recreate the ownership structure. How feasible is that though, really, in your eyes? It's the right thing to do, isn't it? To try. Look, they've created something of value.
It's just a matter of whether that value stacks up to what the ongoing costs are going to be. There's clearly going to be a recalibration of costs, you'd think, if it continues. And then how do you afford the level of talent? I think, interestingly, the likes of Cam Smith and Phil and Bryson would be pretty good targets now, wouldn't they, for tours like the Australian tour where they're
There might be a transition period of whether they are playing live again or aren't, or whether US tour or not.

Chapter 3: Who are the go-to experts in media and why?
And it wouldn't be, like, I think if you're an industrious government, you'd be thinking about, okay, how do I attract that level of talent down here to play in our events in the meantime? Yep.
Athos on email. I noticed Adam Uzay did his midweek press conference. conference in Perth this week ahead of the match against West Coast as opposed to having one in Melbourne. Was this a deliberate move by the Tigers? They would have known full well he would not have been asked many, if any, difficult questions about the club's injury crisis by the WA media. That's a good pick up by us.
I wasn't aware that was the case. If it indeed was strategic, that's a pretty good move by the club.
Yep, and there's a thing I think with the AFL is they've let this go too far. The coaches are strategically speaking in the back end of weeks to avoid any of the topics of the week in their answers, whereas they should be mandated to speak Monday, Tuesday. Don't you think?
I like that idea. Yeah. Yeah. I'm real estate Clarkson at the peak of the Hawthorne powers used to just basically demand that Friday morning, Friday morning to the airport outside the Virgin gate.
Yeah. That's what I remember. What was the guy's name in Tassie? We took a part of the airport. Stubbsy. Was it?
Yeah. Leon email, curious in your views, Ree, the evolution of professional club-specific content. SEN has dabbled with Power and Crows Nation, now Southern Cross doing club casts. Content sourced from both Triple M and Seven. Where to next? Do we soon end up with dedicated beats or professionally created club content a la what we see in the States and Europe? This one's right up your alley.
Yeah, it's, I think.
You do it a lot, don't you? Yeah, I'm a big believer in. Club content. Yeah. And so are SCA and do a great job of listening. Yeah, exactly. So yeah, more and more of it, the better. I think if you're a fan, you want to, and then I think fan content's obviously got its own world too. And there's some great fan sites doing fabulous things as we know. Yep. Ben on Facebook.

Chapter 4: What is LIV Golf's future and how can players return to the PGA?
So surely... When it comes to getting a return on investment, they would be best to have the games at a time when people can watch both matches.
Yeah, well, it doesn't work that way. Here's why. There's 10 weeks of holdback.
games which we've talked about so they can't play them on a saturday on free to air because there's 10 weeks there's 10 weeks of hold back on the delayed games for foxtel so your only option on the big stuff is to play it as a double header in the first two you're going to play two showdowns a year you're talking about the fixture being known as to which teams have been playing in the last 10 rounds of the season actually but but not the when and sorry not the when
Well, if you were going to play two games of Adelaide and Port a year, to use that as an example, which you do, then by mathematics, one of those is going to be in the first 10 rounds of the season. And if you're going to play in the first 10 rounds of the season, you've only got two options, a Friday night or a Sunday.
Now, the argument is, is it going to hold a national Friday night audience on its own? Or Swansea Giants is probably a better example. Is that Friday night on its own worthy? Some would say no. Or does it plug in to be the second game? And the numbers are supporting.
It's an unintended consequence of the Foxtel deal, but the numbers are saying it's working for the broadcaster anyway, perhaps fortuitously.
There's a lot of questions about this. Josh has asked one. Rick's asked one. I'll go to Rick. Can we get the ratings on the 720 game on the Sunday night? Why would anyone watch football at that time?
What's working?
The Sunday night slot.

Chapter 5: Why did the Tigers hold a press conference in Perth?
W? Yep. And we'll make this the last one, actually. Will – I don't know where this is going. Will on email. Several times this year alone, I've heard Hachi say content is king. Content is king. So how come – Probably shouldn't have read this one either. How come the award-winning segment of Damo's Dish has been quietly cancelled?
Yeah, that was a content decision, Will. I thought the level of input for Damo had declined. Will, I'd run out of recipes. It had dropped. I'd run out of recipes about eight years ago. And sometimes when something's not working, you've got to have a hard but fair conversation with the person responsible, you, and say, you're off. Love the Cobram Estate element to it, but I love cooking, Will.
There's my... There's my umpire recruiting ad, by the way. I just made that in real time. I talked about that in the main body. I just made an ad for you on why umpiring should be marketed as a cash product. There you go. So it'll be interesting if you can mark my homework on that. Here you go. I've now made an ad, which I'll release.
And for those people who just listened to the question time outside of the main body, I actually have no idea what you're talking about. So I'll refer you back to the main body as we wrap up. Question time on the sounding board for DrinkWise.
Chapter 6: What changes are needed in coaches' press conference strategies?
