A definitely a brutally honest app, and I just love when we do those because sometimes we agree, very rarely, but often we just don't, and it's so much fun.
Yes, I had a few messages this morning people saying, like, I was hysterically laughing all the way through that. You guys are crazy. And I was like, Thank you. That's all we're here for, to bring laughter to the people.
That is what we're here for, and that's the purpose of these things. Exactly. Exactly.
They're just for fun. It's not all that serious. So our red carpet special was yesterday, and today we are covering the ceremony because that wrapped while we were recording yesterday. So we're gonna go through all the biggest like scandals, surprises, heartwarming moments, upsets from the Emmy Awards this year. So let's kick things off by talking about our hosts for the night, Mariska Hargate, hosted the Emmys this year. And okay, what did you think? We haven't discussed anything yet. No,
we haven't at all. I loved her as host. I really enjoyed it. I sometimes, you know, when you watch it, you do a little fast forward some with between like speeches you're not that interested in, or sometimes if I'm like cannot tolerate the host, which has happened in other years at other award shows and things, I'll do a bit fast forward just to see who wins what category and watch those speeches. But I didn't fast forward a single moment of her. I loved it. I really enjoyed her and I did see a lot of criticism. I saw a lot of compliments as well, but I saw criticism particularly about that opening number. Yeah.
People did not love that. That's the hard thing with hosting an award show is like a so many people who have done it have said it is an incredibly thankless job because it takes so much time, so much effort. You're putting yourself out there and the criticism is always really brute brutal.
Yeah, and you've got to like hold the whole show in your hands from start to finish and they are long.
And you've got to sort of moderate between entertain the crowd who are like all these actors and Hollywood people who a lot of them just either want to get their category there or they wanna get out. Yeah. And then you have to also kind of make fun of them for the audience at home because you're putting on a show and advertisers pay to be around the show and award show numbers are dipping. So like the stakes could not be higher as they are now. Uh-huh.
I mean she acknowledged it. She said that the first thing that people said to her when she was offered it was don't do it. Yes. And then don't have any moments of sincerity. Funnily enough, the moments of sincerity that she had were the parts that people complimented.
Yes. I think also Mariska Haggate is kind of universally beloved. Like you never come across people who are sort of like, you know, we said like everyone like loved Dolly Parton so much.
