So speculation's gonna uh is gonna get ramped up um for obvious reasons because um Obviously he look, he worked with Vinai for four years uh at Arsenal. Now it would be there will be fans who are saying, What is going on? We're recruiting another Arsenal Uh Oh what what would you call him? An Arsenal? What'd you call him an Arsenal fan? And I said the guy started off at Norwich, right? You know, the fact that he worked for, you know, ten years at Arsenal or more just over ten years at Arsenal should neither be there here nor there. As far as I'm concerned, it's about talent.
And there's no doubt that this guy um has got talent. He's come right through the ranks. Um I think he joined uh if I'm not wrong, he joined in twenty fourteen. Gotta remember some of it. I can't remember all of it. So he joined in 2014 as a scout. Um and then he produced uh it went on from there to chief scout and recruitment coordinator, assistant sporting director to Edu. as we know. Um and that was in uh t twenty th twenty two, twenty-three. And then of course Edu was recalled um uh was uh recruited by Maranakis. To go to Nottingham Forest. So at that point, um, he stepped into the role. Um, and let's be honest, I mean, he has, in fairness, um been working on some, you know, big, big deals.

Um and um during his time At Arsenal. I mean, these are factual ones. These aren't, you know, rumors and stuff. Like Martin Zubamendi, apparently during his spell at interim uh sporting director with Edu A2 personally picked up the button to make the crucial breakthrough in the deal with Rails Society after the deal was seriously sticking. He was the one that saw it through. and got him to the club. Top top top player. I mean, yes, they play good money, but um he played in that double pivot with Michael Mourinho at um at Arsenal at Real Sociedad. So having got him, um that was a natural thing to try and uh get uh Zubamendi over the line. The other one he was involved in, uh another top player Uh Ric Riccardo Calafiori.
A2 was noted being heavily involved uh behind the scenes, handling the intricate uh work dealing with Bologna. That again was not an easy transfer to do, but he brought the Italian to London and secured that deal. So uh another another good one. As I said, Michael Mourinho, Mikel Mourinho, uh was the first one that he did. Um, he speaks, I think, multiple languages.
