Chapter 1: What is the tribute to John Garrett about?
Before we start the show today, we did want to do a quick shout-out to John Garrett and his family. John Garrett, longtime broadcaster for the Canucks and also player. He was a goalie for them as well. This is one of the guys that I think is the most beloved in the community. He was working right up until earlier this week and unfortunately passed away at the age of 75.
I can tell you I had no interactions with John over my career, but producer Hayden, who does a lot of my streams when he worked for Sportsnet, Said that when John would call in or talk to you or come in, he was one of those people that if he asked you how you were, he really waited for your answer. Looked you in the eye, wanted to know one of the kindest people out there.
Yeah, there's only been kind words coming out about him. Yes. It's been great to hear all the tributes and everything. And it was it was so strange because I was watching the playoff games with him. And then all of a sudden you get the news and it's really shocking and sad.
He's a fantastic example of a life well-lived, right? You see the outpouring of love.
I was saying last night, too, guys like Bowen, obviously retiring this year, John Garrett sadly passing away. There are people in broadcasting, and this is what can make it so special, that it's sort of funny. They do things and they capture a city in a way that nobody else could, right? You're trained in broadcasting to be generic, right?
And not, well, we don't want to get too much personality out there because that might turn some people off. Guys like John Garrett, Joe was another guy that I would suggest that where you just, they grabbed you and you couldn't not listen. You couldn't not hear what they had to say and you couldn't not love them. John was one of those guys, a total unique guy.
So a big shout out to his family, our condolences and to the city of Vancouver, all the Canucks fans who are sad today. John Garrett, rest in peace.
with your hosts, Steve Dangle, Adam Wild, and Jesse Blake.
Oh, wow. Nice shot, Jesse. I hope you guys are watching. Otherwise, listening, you will not understand this. Now, we've got an exciting show today. There's a lot to talk about, including Jesse's unbelievable jump shot. Jesse Steph Curry Blake is what we call him.

Chapter 2: What are the implications of the Penguins and Bruins series?
He's coming to join us, which we're very excited about. Yes. In the meantime, though, I think we need to talk about the games last night. And I want to start with the Oilers. Not just because I'm covering the series and doing the streams, but because the Edmonton Oilers played their best hockey game of the postseason last night.
And I think the deeper that this series goes, the more uh-oh I get for Anna. No. Adam, sorry.
Whistle. Flag on the play. Flag on the play. The Oilers are good. And that doesn't fit with my Eastern bias. Oh. So every week we get one Eastern bias card. I'm playing mine. We're not talking about them.
You're just not going to talk about the Oilers at all?
Nope. Habs bolts tonight. What do you got?
Well, this episode will come out about two hours before that game starts. Doesn't matter. So we are not going to spend a ton of time on it. Center of the universe. Here we go. No, listen.
We said it last show. They're down 3-1. For most teams, that means you're screwed. One game and you're like, uh-oh. It reminded me of, and it's weird that I forgot about this, but the Oilers have just played so much damn hockey. They were down 3-0 to Florida in 4-7 the first time they played against each other. And the first game that the Oilers won, you were like, this is going 7-0.
First game, you're like, oh, oh, okay, well. See you in a week when this series is still going. And that's sort of how last night felt.
It did. And you know what was amazing is everybody freaked out when CJ tweeted that McDavid and Dreisel were not at practice. I'm like, they're playing. They're playing.

Chapter 3: How did the Oilers perform in their latest playoff game?
Cracks his knuckles. All right, let me go off for five points right now.
He won a heart trophy. He did win a heart trophy. No, I know. No, I mean like for people who don't realize it. Oh, yes. Yeah, if you're sitting there being like, oh, Malkin's not that. No, no, he's that guy. When Sid's not around, he steps up. He's like, ooh, I get to wear the cape.
It just seems like that easy, lazy comparison. But the more you look at their two careers, you're like, they're actually very alike in a lot of ways. Minus the Cups. But still, still, the Cup final appearances, they're doing great.
Now, it's interesting because when they got up 3-0 in that first period, which was dominant, they scored and whatever, there are some people today criticizing the Oilers because they're... You know, their breakout attempts were not great at five on five. They did score on the power play, that sort of thing.
And I want to caution you on that because what the Oilers did was they played extremely solid defense. And if you're looking at a team trying to defend a lead, what the Oilers did was they just ran the Ducks out. So maybe the breakouts weren't the greatest or whatever. Also, you got to give Anaheim some credit here. They're very good. Oh, yeah. And they're deep.
And they got a lot of scoring up and down the lineup. That fourth line has contributed. Every line has contributed. But what I thought was amazing about the Oilers was that when the Ducks had a puck behind their own net, and, you know, normally you have a defenseman setting up, you know, guys are kind of skating around, changing, whatever. The Oilers wouldn't let them do that.
We're going to skate you, skate you, skate you as hard as possible. And guys like Kapanen and Putt Colson have the wheels to do that.
So you might have missed this because I find it impossible to watch the intermission panels when I'm streaming because I'm either running something during the... Or going to the bathroom or whatever. Or going to the bathroom or reading something or whatever. But Kevin Biexa was talking about how poorly Lucas Dostal handled the puck.
Oh, the second goal was unbelievable. Because he got faked out by a forecheck from Zach Hyman. Which can happen.

Chapter 4: What are the predictions for the upcoming games?
There's just more noise around him when things happen. And I don't know if there's necessarily anything internally going on or if it's just kind of more external stuff because there is things internally going on. But if those are just amplified because he has a lot of people who like him.
And I'm not going to say outright xenophobia, but there's a lot of imagination. Yes. Because the language barrier makes it so that he can't always explain himself articulately, right? And that's a luxury for a lot of players in this league. What's he thinking? And we're all... everyone's just guessing what he's thinking.
And every story that comes out, he can't defend himself and be like, that's not true.
Every Mitch golf thing feels like it's coming out of the daily mail and a little tabloid. Like it feels like we're following like an F1 driver who's in something with his wife. And there's like a whole bunch of drama. Why is it always this level of suspicion and drama around Mitch golf? There is a, there is a TMZ element to it. You're absolutely right.
It feels like everything comes out of the, what is the Inquirer in Philly? Yeah. Like that's the more tabloidy newspaper. It feels like everything's coming out of that. Like Cousin Chun is dropping bombs in his afternoon show.
You know what I mean? If his name was Doug Truck from Welland, like he wouldn't be getting this. No. But his name is Madvei Michkov from wherever Madvei Michkov's from.
Whenever there's a Mitchkoff thing, I always start with a little skepticism about like, is this actually a story or are we just poking at Roy McIlroy's relationship here? You know, is it that level of drama? And then it's like, okay, this is continuing. There actually was something there. Like the out of shape thing coming into the season, that was a true factual thing that happened. Very real.
He was not ready and they needed him to play himself into the shape to be ready for an NHL game.
Let's say it wasn't real. Your coach thought it was good enough.

Chapter 5: Why are Flyers fans unhappy with their team during the playoffs?
And I thought by making the playoffs and going on the run that they had, that Flyers fans are going to be like, all right, I'm coming around to talk it. And here we are at game five and they are completely out on him.
Everyone's miserable. And I can't wait until... This is a house money team. They should be having fun. Until like 12 hours from now, it's just complete euphoria. Yeah.
Yeah.
Chapter 6: How has Rick Tockett influenced the Flyers' playoff performance?
Absolutely.
Or just the depths of despair.
Yes. And the extremes of that story, like the extremes weren't where they actually were.
Chapter 7: What are the implications of coaching decisions for playoff teams?
It was somewhere in the middle where everything was kind of fine by a couple months in. Everybody was good and he had a good season. And Flyers fans, like Rick Tockett's done a fantastic job. He's the sole reason you're in the playoffs right now. It's great coaching. So I think everything will be fine with them in the end.
And if I'm truly going to pick these two series, I think both of them close it out and they win. I don't think either of these teams are going to blow the three.
I mean, that is the most likely outcome. And they have played both teams, Buffalo and Philly, have been the better teams in the series. Yeah, I think Buffalo gets one and Philly gets one. Hey, listen, you probably don't have time to make all your meals because frankly, let's be honest, it's difficult to meal prep that much. Your life is busy.
Then you go to the sad corporate food court and eat a sad looking salad and you go, this is really not great. I don't love this. What about Tempo?
That sounds much more my tempo.
And imagine it was ready in two minutes, real food, real fast, without the sad desk lunch. And you know how that is. 20 new recipes every week. And they're nutrient-rich, so you will be satiated. And tempo keeps things exciting, and you can stay consistent with healthy habits, too. Yes, Jesse? Can I read some of the meals to you? Yeah, please.
The Asiago Alfredo Chicken. The pesto chicken and Alfredo penne. Roasted tomato turkey meatballs. Shrimp and corn rotini. That looks and sounds amazing.
Chipotle ranch meatball farro bowl. I don't know. What's farro? Farro is like a couscous, but it's like a grain. It's a grain that you boil and it's actually quite good. I like it.
I think I've had that. That sounds good. Butter chicken curry. Always good.

Oh, that's true. Yes, that is true.
Yes.
