I saw a sign for it. But... Steven Pearsall said to me, if this doesn't start, it's very dangerous to light it by hand with matches.

No, because I told you this. I replaced the batteries. There might be an issue with the terminal there. So if you unscrew it, you can see if it looks like there's some, you know... battery acid that might be leaking out of it, or if it just looks like it needs to be cleaned up a little bit, because again, the grill had not been used in years, but where you press the igniter, that is where you can screw it out and check to see if the battery's still in good shape.
