We are coming off of the beautiful World Cup that was held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. what a treat that that was and it's and and it's it's over now and i do hope that the enthusiasm and the love that americans showed for the game of football and for the countries that were playing it i hope this isn't like we had a foreign exchange student come live with us for six weeks and like got along great but now that they're gone and every now and again we'll check back in by text no i hope that it's a lasting relationship and and one that we that that we value uh but you know in these times these are the moments uh post world cup there's a period of reflection and uh and we're gonna do that on today's podcast not reflecting on the world but reflecting on uh one of the cities that was central to the world cup experience which was new york city and who better to check in

There's often a lot made of a campaign as if it is easier and a governing as if it is a harder experience. I think both are challenging.

I think what is lost, though, is that governing comes with the opportunity to deliver. When you're campaigning, you're asking people to believe. You're asking them to put their trust into a politics that's often disappointed them. And when you're governing, you can earn their trust by what you deliver. And so it is much easier to have a conversation about this vision today when we've been able to pave 175,000 potholes, put the city on a path to universal childcare, win more than $60 million for tenants whose landlords made negligence into a business model. When we have that conversation now, you can point to what these last six months have looked like under democratic socialist principles.
