How daunting is West Ham’s trip to Man City at the Etihad?
It's match day. West Ham travelling to face Manchester City at the Etihad, with Man City in form that is just making this game feel daunting, to say the very least. Very, very tough ask for West Ham today to get anything out of this game. I think there's not going to be too many people out there that are going to be betting against City for today, I think it's fair to say. Very, very big challenge for us today. they're in very good form of course Man City on a very good run at the moment and they just seem to have that ruthless edge about them again West Ham aren't in bad form I know we've just come off the back of a defeat to Aston Villa but I think overall we've been playing well so I'm not expecting West Ham to roll over and take a
you know, an absolute batter-in, but I think the chances of us actually coming away and getting a result, very, very hard to see, isn't it, at the moment? I've tried my best to have that optimism and think, oh, maybe this could happen, that could happen, but it is difficult, very, very difficult today. We've got team news from XWHU employee, and then we're going to look at what we think the formation would be and the line-up. It's going to... A bit tricky today, I'm going to be honest. It's a little bit tricky. I'll explain why in a minute. And then also, basically, I've done two lineups that I think it could well be today. Of course, we've got the news that Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Malik Diouf are unavailable today.
They are with their respective nations for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. So they are not available.
Which first-team absences from AFCON will shape West Ham’s squad?
Nicholas Fortquick was also not in the squad. He looks like he's played his last game for West Ham, which I don't think is a bad issue at all, to be honest. Glad to see the back of him. So he's looking like he's on his way to AC Milan. So first of all, let's start with what we've got from ex-WHU employee. And I'll explain why I think it's going to be a bit tricky to pick this. There's a couple of interesting parts here, but I'll sort of come to it. So, This is from X this morning. It says, West Ham are missing Arouan Bissaka and Elhadj Malik Diouf, who are both at the African Cup of Nations. The obvious expected replacements are Karl-Walker Peters and Oli Skars. There is the option, however, to play Esmeralda Myers and Igor at left-back also.
Nicholas Fort Crook is a game missing from the squad and is now likely to play his last game for the club with a low move to Milan with an optional buy clause, part of the agreement, very close now to completion. So it looks like he's on his way, as I say, which I think is a bit of good news, to be honest.
What did ExWHUEmployee reveal about likely replacements and youth call-ups?
Youngsters, Finn Herrick, who's now, who's behind him, Anson and Areola, Esmeralda Myers and Mo Kante are in the squad today, as well as Andy Irving, George Urphy, I'm not happy about that. I'm not very worried about that at all, actually. And I can say that for every player in those three. I feel like he's not really getting an opportunity, which is a shame. I feel like he's shown promise at West Ham. I think he's done well really, overall, when you look at what he's done in his loan spells away from the club, when he has been called upon in first teams. I mean, obviously, it's only been very brief to this point, but he always looked lively. He always seems to put in a good shift. Of course, he's a big West Ham fan as well.
I just want to see him get a bit more opportunity. I think, obviously, we're seeing from Paqueta at the moment, this erratic behaviour and performances from him. You feel like Urfie's a good option there to have on the bench.
Why is Nicolas Forto/Forck’s exit to Milan significant for the club?
I'm just struggling to understand why he's not part of things. I think it's disappointing. Luis Galerme... I'm going to do a video about this in the week with Luis Guillermo, but my thoughts on this as a sort of snapshot are that I'm losing my patience, actually, with Lewis Guillermo. I'm going to be honest. As much as he seems like a very top lad, he's young and I do feel for him. I think how he's been handled at West Ham has been terrible.
